My colleagues and I have just wrapped up the selection procedure (some admin notwithstanding) for a PhD project about birth care communication, which I will start supervising after the summer. I am really excited, and grateful that @uantwerpen.be provides a starting grant to all new professors

at times I still miss my former Ghent office (both the people and the location) because whenever we had the first bit of spring weather (like today), we went out to get ice cream, and there were plenty of great options nearby. The Antwerpen campus is also nice, but sadly no ice cream opportunities 😭

So happy to reactivate our Breastfeeding Interaction Group, with lovely collaborators @emdoesca.bsky.social, Julia Katila and Amanda Bateman. It's been a very slow collaboration because it's a side project for all of us, while juggling academic life and young parenthood for three of us.

After 7 months of post-editing and finalising transcription, my chronic pain corpus is finally ready for corpus analysis! It's been a ride! But so happy to be on it with @mathewgillings.bsky.social and Isolde van Dorst! Now on to analyses and then writing.

Going through the proofs of an article that has been properly language-edited, which is love, because I feel proofreading nowadays often just is a quick check of the references and a few other formal requirements. But also so sad to see all my Oxford commas deleted 😭

My first real post here, and a sad one already, unfortunately. Today there is a national demonstration in The Hague, the Netherlands, because of the announced budget cuts in Dutch higher education. The new government wants to cut €1.3 billion, and reverse earlier internationalisation efforts.
