Our EU Delegation in #Kyiv was heavily damaged this morning when a Russian missile struck a neighbouring building. The explosion shattered windows and caused a ceiling collapse. All our staff are safe. 🇪🇺🇺🇦

1/ 🔥🇪🇺 Southern Europe is burning. For weeks, dozens of wildfires have swept across Spain, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Albany, France and Greece. Tens of thousands of hectares lost. Homes, forests, and lives destroyed. This is a regional tragedy — and a warning for all of Europe.

Today, I am taking part in the Foreign Affairs Council urgently convened by @kajakallas. On the agenda: Ukraine. No peace can be lasting without 🇺🇦 at the table. Gaza. The humanitarian situation is unbearable. This is no time for division. 🇪🇺 must speak with one single voice.

Less than 3 hours after #Albania requested assistance to fight wildfires, 2 Canadairs from 🇬🇷 & 1 from 🇮🇹 from the #rescEU fleet were deployed this afternoon. The canadairs are offering support to local teams battling the fires in Vlora & Dibër counties.

Our 🇪🇺#budget is more than numbers. It’s all about investing in people. Making our societies more equal & inclusive, keeping people safe & prepared for crises, strengthening global solidarity. Today’s €2 trillion budget will help us achieve our ambitious goals for the future.

Last night, Russia launched its largest attack on #Ukraine to date. 3 yrs into this nightmare, the suffering continues to deepen. As Russia shows utter disregard of IHL, the EU continues to stand by Ukraine, delivering life-saving aid & supporting those hit hardest by the war.

Today, we’re strengthening 🇪🇺’s resilience with 2 new strategies. 📦Stockpiling Strategy, the EU’s first unified approach to ensure essential goods are ready when needed. 💊Medical Countermeasures Strategy, so we can respond faster & save lives in a health crisis. Preparing together. Safer together.

Closely following the wildfires across 🇪🇺. Bulgarian firefighters prepositioned via the EU are supporting local teams to tackle the blaze in Halkidiki, Greece. 🇪🇺 stands ready with Copernicus satellite images, more firefighters & equipment to support any country in need.

The agreement reached between the #DRC & #Rwanda in Washington brings hope to hundreds of thousands displaced and a step toward regional stability. I call for unhindered humanitarian access so that the EU, together with its partners, can continue delivering vital aid.

Following the escalation in the #MiddleEast, 8 EU Member States activated the Union Civil Protection Mechanism to assist EU citizens affected by airspace closures in the region. So far, almost a thousand people were brought back to the EU.

Ahead of tomorrow’s FAC on the #MiddleEast, we will not lose sight of #Gaza. Food, water & sanitation are critically lacking in Gaza. The latest #GenevaAcademy report exposes how Israeli policies violate intl humanitarian law by denying families safe water. This must end.

Adam’s father and his brothers & sisters were killed in an Israeli airstrike on May 23th. Last night Adam and 16 other patients were evacuated from Gaza to 🇮🇹 thanks to the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, @Who.int and host Italy. The EU — saving lives, offering a spark of hope.

On board with the 🇸🇪 Coast Guard, key players in Sweden’s maritime security & Total Defence. As risks rise, so does our cooperation. Grateful for their EU solidarity and for their commitment to keeping us safe.

Killed for a crust of bread & a drop of water. The 3rd deadly attack in days on starving people in #Gaza. Israel must allow full humanitarian access. Let UN partners with real expertise work. Impartially, independently, by humanitarian principles. A starving human is not a target.

Bringing all parts of the 🇸🇪 civil defence together shows everyone has a role to play. Preparedness means collaboration: across municipalities, business, education, health, voluntary & defence organisations. An enriching exchange on being ready for the full spectrum of risks.

At the MSB Crisis Centre, Sweden’s Civil Contingencies Agency coordinates resilience efforts with 60 agencies nationwide. Great to hear about the strong coordination with the ERCC too. Preparedness isn’t just a plan—it’s daily business for the whole society and government.

Thrilled to be in #Stockholm on a mission focusing on preparedness. Looking forward to learning about the Swedish resilience model. Kicked off with a keynote and panel on civil defence at Folk och Försvar, alongside Carl Oskar.

Humanitarian aid must never be politicised or militarised. It must protect, not degrade. Aid must be delivered with the UN & experienced humanitarian partners in line with #IHL. Let us deliver. A political solution is the only way forward.

As summer begins, so do the risks of wildfires. 🇪🇺 is stepping up its preparedness: over 650 firefighters from 14 countries are prepositioned, with 22 planes & 4 helicopters on standby. Spain plays a key role, hosting teams & rescEU Canadairs. This is European solidarity in action.

The successful transfer of a hostage from Gaza by @icrc.org underscores the vital role of humanitarian actors operating in line with well-known humanitarian principles during times of crisis. We fully support @icrc.org call for a renewed ceasefire. The time for peace is now.

I reiterate my call on Israel to protect schools instead of closing them in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Closing 6 more schools in East Jerusalem will force 800+ children out of an education & a hopeful future. Education and children must never be targets.

Good meeting with the Chair of Red Cross EU Office. The Red Cross is embedded across the EU. It is trusted, rooted in communities, with 920 000 volunteers across Europe. As we build the Preparedness Union, they are key partners for turning strategy into action.

When cities celebrate every voice, they don’t just grow, they shine. Bravo to Krakow, Bilbao & Utrecht, our European Capitals of Inclusion & Diversity Award for cities above 50.000 inhabitants! Inclusion isn’t a challenge. It’s Europe’s superpower. Let’s inspire other cities!
