We really like 2nd magazine, we import it from Japan. It’s for clothes enthusiasts. Not quite street wear, not heritage, not preppy, not Ivy, not tech, not outdoors, but all of that somehow. The yellow one is the latest and we have a little collection of back issues available too.

We’ve been a bit quite on here recently, but we’re still doing the “find all the best print from all over the place and bring it to the shop and sell it to you” thing we’ve been pioneering since 2018.

We’re here for another week of this stuff. Expect A/W 2025 influx, pre orders for the new Calling In Sick and Tools flying out, new Olga Tokarczuk (!!!), more stationery favourites from Penco, maybe even a Rare Dunk or two.

Just us in the middle of it all. The street is changing around us, hang in there while we get some new neighbours. We’ll be here. New stuff every day, coffee machine on, every day apart from Mondays, all on the website is in stock, ready to go. Happy to help, we love what we do.

Newly constructed (by Holly, who else?) stationery displays are in the shop now. We welcome Penco to go with our old friends Kaweco and Milan. A selection of what you need and want to make marks on paper. On the site too, but you’ll have to imagine the newly oiled plywood smell.

Due to the sheer number of new magazines arriving, the highway is narrowed. All roads lead to good print.

Craig from Reddish Ale asked me to draw an old tourist board type poster to stick up in their neighbouring Reddish Vale to point possible punters towards pints after a walk. This is the online version but the IRL version has "Thirsty? x minutes walk to Reddish Ale -->" type instruction.

Chalk is here, an arts magazine about science, a history magazine that covers sustainability. It includes writing on volcanoes and racism is Brazilian football and dung beetles, folklore, the national video game museum, steam trains and prehistoric oreodonts (think dog sized camels).

Counter views. We’re the magazine shop with the books, that’ll do you a really good coffee (with a biscuit) and talk you through our fancy pens and pencils too.

A new issue of the clothing history magazine Avant has arrived. This time we hear the voices of the vintage clothing industry - collectors, dealers, designers. The interviews are varied and fascinating and it’s a great dive in to what connects a love of old rags.

The Folk Review is here, the magazine of The Folk Archive. The second issue is inspired by childhood, experiments, eduction & craft. We got some issue 1 too because we’re like that, it contains Cornish customs, Lancashire based witch stuff, Scottish ghosts & apple trees in Sussex for good measure.

Can’t make it to London for your Rooney chess fix? Word has it that our very own Holly was once crowned “Queen Of The Board” in the Rossendale Free Press newspaper and will tackle anyone.

“Rare Mags does it again, shock horror!” reads the headline. We’ve brought these in from the United States of America because they are GREAT. For fans of 2nd, Popeye, etc etc, but in English so you can read about all these incredible things without a reader app. Very limited copies.
