Been thinking a lot about the band Cake lately. I was a teen in the 90s, but didn't listen to many of the contemporary bands that my friends did. I was busy listening to Freddie King, John Carpenter, Billy Joel, & Black Sabbath. But I did buy Fashion Nugget & loved Cake's unique sound. Good stuff.

A few random negative movie thoughts of the day: I don't like that "Padawan" is a term that gets used as slang in movies and TV shows. Blue Crush is kinda ruined by the cheesy green screen shot at the end. The Monkey would've made for a better horror anthology episode than a full-length feature.

Still one of my favs.

Today I found out that John, from Day of the Dead (Terry Alexander) lives in my building. He is a really nice guy!

Little known fact about me, the Final Destination franchise is one of my favs.

Vice Squad (1982) might be a better movie than Hollywood Vice Squad (1986), but HVS is more entertaining and has a better cast. Just sayin'...

There are 2 Kevin Costners and I will be honest, I'm getting a little tired of the one with the gruff voice.

I don't remember seasons 1 & 2 of Reacher being nearly as poorly written as the current season. What happened?

I finally got my turntable set back up and am now enjoying @scoredtodeath.bsky.social’s “Scored To Death” vinyl.

I kind love that 4 of the top 10 movies on Max today are from the Final Destination franchise.

To all the aspiring screenwriters out there who get told their script "moves too slow," "you need to move things up," "have this happen on page 10, that happen on page 15," etc. Just remember Rocky doesn't even get offered the Apollo Creed fight until 56:30 into the 2 hour movie.

The problem with deciding whether or not to watch Rocky is, you need to decide if you feel like crying today. 90% of my Rocky views have always just been catching it on TV. So the decision was made for me.

And today will be the 26th Superbowl in a row that I ignore. No...I don't watch it for the commercials.

I'm extremely curious, as a NY'er, why doesn't anyone want to use revolving doors? People actually go out of their way not to use them. They have a purpose. They conserve energy and are better for the environment. So why don't people want to use them? I don't understand it.

I finally watched THE SUBSTANCE this week, and I have to admit. I liked the original with Michael Keaton better.

I always miss my pal Robert Cobert this time of year. Around xmas in 2018, I cold called him to ask if I could interview him for a book. We chatted for 20 minutes before I even told him who I was & why I was calling. He had the most contagious laugh. It was the 1st of many great calls. Miss you Bob.
