My great uncle Jim Brunot who produced the game of Scrabble in 1948. They are sifting through the wooden tiles produced by a factory in Germany. His friend, Alfred Butts had created the game and Uncle Jim and his wife Jean named it, changed a few of the rules, and then produced it commercially.

Well this is intriguing. A Catalan scrabble contest in Perpignan, in which the local dialect of Rossellonès is apparently allowed. Scrabble is famous for its disputes - even in English. Rossellonès doesn't have an authoritative dictionary and some spellings even vary village by village!

Nobody likes playing word-based games with me - but my 12 year old felt bad and told me he'd pay Scrabble. I told the kids they could use a dictionary and I would not. My teen managed to beat me by like 10 points! I think this might be a workable handicap.
