All I gotta say rn about this Young Thug brouhaha is that I've never in my life wanted to listen a Gunna album a second time.

As others pointed out, the feckless corporate bosses and venture capital goons are the ones what "killed" music criticism. If you want to read actual reviews or crit, you gotta go where the fired writers and dejected freelancers went: NEWSLETTERS, BABY!

I will say one thing that really irks me about the New Yorker music criticism is dead or whatever piece is how many critics of note from the past two decades it leaves out. Not a mention of Craig Jenkins, a Pitchfork vet turned 2021 Pulitzer finalist for his incredible work at Vulture?

Unless this essay directly mentions me, the crankiest music critic of the 2010s, I ain't readin' it.
