Just made a Lancashire Hotpot. It's a dish I've made several times, but for some reason this one turned out different. It was bloody lovely. Normally it's fine, but somehow the gravy was thicker, the meat softer, & the potatoes crispier. I did nothing different. I look forward to my next attempt.

It's a sad state of affairs when I can knock up a pizza that is better than any I can get delivered. The bread was a bit fluffy for pizza, the tomato base too thick, and the cheese too sparse. But overall it was adequate. And unlike those delivery places I could get anchovies, and capers on mine.

I wonder if town planners are choosing to align new road layouts to maximise solar panel efficiency. And the same goes for architects, do they consider the orientation of the roof when designing a house. I'd expect to see fewer symmetrical roofs if they are. They should be biased to the sun.

My annual electricity bill is £1500. The cost of solar for my roof would be £7500, and that would not fully offset my daily usage. The numbers are close, but not quite in my favour yet. Hopefully cost benefit will swing my way in a few years time.

Our 'mostly indoor cat' got chased down the street by our neighbours 'back garden only' dog after it escaped. I'm glad the Greens have entered UK politics, but someone needs to have words with Zack. I've just seen him say "Two party politics is dead", then 10 seconds later say "It's us or Reform". It's a 5 party system, lets see how the cards play out in a general election.

I do find it odd that we still refer to the political parties in the UK in a linear fashion. With 3 I could see the logic with 3, but with 5 we need a different method. Keeping it linear does not marry with explaining why a left voter would jump to extreme right, we need another dimension.

A lesson from my early school years, 'Always look for the silver lining when things go bad'. The UK local elections have put in the a far right set of councillors across in many areas. The plus point is we will now be able to see how badly they perform before the national election. It will be bad.

It's common to see someone complaining about a tax that is 'too high', but you never see them suggest where that tax income can be moved to. If you offer solutions rather than just complain about problems, people listen. You're also more likely to get a change in the tax system.
