evelyn officially concludes paying off her student loans this weekend so as a surprise for tomorrow i got her a chocolate cake and labelled it (endearingly poorly) "Congrats! No More Student Loans" shhhh! dont tell her

the classic OCD thought ultimately boils down to "i want to/have to be good" or "i want to/have to do a good job" or "i have to know with a degree of certainty in order to understand or make a choice" and then manifests in the efforts to try and make these thoughts true

the water damage / repairs situation has been so bad and stressful ive ended up struggling to fall asleep before 4am for a week now. whats helped is finding black and white TV shows from the 50s, turning the display of my TV off, and having them on at low volume in the background

ive bought my first Artists quality oil paint; Gamblin's Chromatic Black. this is a transparent black made from a mix of Quinacridone Red and Pthalo Emerald. because my problem is a lack of distinct values and contrast + student quality hues vs pigment, i think this will help balance that immensely

genuinely think the first point in any convo about ADHD meds should be that 1) ADHD is linked to increased rates of brain degeneration, and developing dementia / Alzheimers & 2) taking ADHD meds slows that rate of degeneration to the same speed as peers without ADHD

all my background when it comes to painting is in years of being a watercolor painter as a child and teenager. the basic premise of values in watercolor is you have to work light to dark, technically, because you cant lighten darks in that medium. but oils is the opposite, which ive not been doing

no SNAP means i will be scrounging around food banks and food pantries with crossed fingers due to my whole "cannot digest any beans or legumes" problem 🤪
