I recently made the switch to Linux and decided to change a lot about my digital life! I ditched random youtube playlists and streaming-- been using Fooyin + Syncthing + Poweramp on Android, with LastFM for scrobbling. Why did nobody tell me music listening could be this fun omfg 😭

I just replayed Mario 63 again as it is a big inspiration for not just my current game, but all my work, and it is crazy to me how much a Flash fangame from 2009 still holds up. Some of the most fun movement I've ever seen in a game, it is a total joy to just be running around in this world.

Now that Nintendo is embracing the "classic mario" aesthetic, more YouTubers need to become familiar with the names Yoichi Kotabe and Shigehisa Nakaue. Kotabe solidified the 2D Mario look in the late 80s and early 90s, and Nakaue has been carrying that torch in newer games.

Super Mario Sunshine is the only 3D Mario platformer in which Mario gets tired of hanging from a ledge. After 17 seconds of holding on, he will start shaking uncontrollably, and let go 3 seconds later. In the other platformers, he can hang from ledges indefinitely without issue.
