#QueerWritersChat Romance almost always wants one, as I said, to really drive home the HEA aspect. Other genres are more YMMV. I think there's also an art to knowing when to end. (I've read too many manuscripts that have gone on too long lately; epilogues can feel like torture, not triumph.)

#QueerWritersChat A good epilogue wraps up loose ends and leaves the reader with a sense of emotional satiety. You're maybe sad the story is over, but you know anything more would be too much.

#QueerWritersChat I am fairly certain all of them do! Epilogues seem pretty standard in romance, as a way to really drive home the HEA. I feel like it gives a nice little end cap, ties up loose ends (and maybe sets up the next book if it's a series title).
