One fascinating thing about trying to promote a book online are the commenters who chime in to say some version of "Oh, so you're trying to sell books, huh?" as if they caught you doing something nefarious. Yes, I am trying to sell books. I'm an author. Guilty as charged.

If we want to get serious about addressing declining literacy rates in the US, we gotta stop shaming people for what and how they read. Speaking as someone who has personally struggled, shame is a sure fire way to kill any enthusiasm and curiosity toward reading, which kills any ambition to learn.

Can we stop judging people for what they read? If you enjoy reading “dark” or “twisted” storylines it does not always mean you have trauma or need therapy. People can and do separate fiction from reality. liking a genre does NOT mean you want it to happen in real life. 💙📚
