I am very pleased that after a lengthy process the Berwick Bank Offshore Wind Farm has received its consent, allowing the project to proceed. Once fully delivered it will be the largest floating offshore wind farm and has significant economic opportunities for Edinburgh (1/3)

The infected blood scandal was one of the worst failures in our health system’s history. I have constituents still living with the devastating consequences, and that’s why I asked the Minister when they will finally receive the compensation they deserve. (1/2)

The ground invasion of Deir al Balah is yet more evidence this conflict has gone too far. Gazans are starving, they need aid, not more bombs. I strongly welcome the joint Statement by the UK and 28 international partners yesterday calling for the war in Gaza to end now. (1/2)

Nova Innovation, based in Leith, is pioneering floating solar technology that generates clean energy. This week I asked Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what steps the Government is taking to support the development of floating solar.

1/3 This afternoon, the House of Commons begins the final stages of the Assisted Dying Bill's Report Stage. Usually I would be in my constituency on a Friday, but I’m in Westminster to follow this important debate. Nothing has been decided yet.

No woman should face prison for making choices about her own body. I stand with my colleague Tonia Antoniazzi MP in supporting the amendment to decriminalise abortion in England and Wales. This is about compassion, justice, and basic human rights.

Every Reform MP voted against the Employment Rights Bill ❌ That means they voted against an end exploitative zero hours contracts, against giving you rights at work from your first day on the job, and against a ban on fire and rehire. Reform UK are not a friend to working people.

1/2 I welcome this weeks announcement of the new UK-EU deal. After years of uncertainty for people and businesses following EU exit, this UK-EU Agreement struck by our UK Labour Government brings certainty through a closer relationship with the EU.

1/3 I have been calling for further pressure to be placed on the Israeli government for the ongoing conflict and increased military presence in Gaza.

1/2 I fully support yesterday’s joint statement from the UK, Canada, and France. The level of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable. I strongly oppose the expansion of Israel’s military operations.

This morning we begin the final Commons debate on the Assisted Dying Bill before it moves to the Lords. I support the bill in principle, but I am keeping an eye on any amendments that are passed. so I’ll keep constituents updated as it develops. An update from me. 👇

1/2 A massive step forward for GB Energy as it is now signed in law. For the first time in 70 years we have set up an energy generation company owned by the British people.

1/2 Overnight the Israeli government have issued one of the largest evacuation orders seen in the last twenty months. That is why today I pushed government to schedule a debate on Government time for a debate on the UK’s response to the conflict.

Today we mark VE Day. I have been reflecting on all those who sacrificed their lives in service to our country and our freedom during the Second World War. Yesterday, I attended a touching ceremony in the House of Commons which honoured the memory of fallen Members of Parliament and staff.

Yesterday, I urged the UK government to officially recognise the state of Palestine. We can’t afford to wait any longer, every delay risks the chance of a viable Palestinian state, including Gaza, slipping away.

1/3 I was honoured to be invited to the official opening of the new Charles Hammond Berth at the Port of Leith. This new deep-water berth, part of Forth Ports’ £100 million+ investment, will transform the Port of Leith into a world-class hub for offshore renewable energy.

I had a lovely visit to the Old Royal High School on Monday. I was really impressed by how much progress has already been made on the preservation work, and I'm looking forward to staying updated on the ongoing restoration and of course, the music to come! 🎵

Great afternoon spent with the team at Right There at the Northwest branch. It was inspiring to hear the fantastic work they do to help the community. A great example of community partnership as they work alongside Fresh Start and Pilton Community Health Project.

The grand opening of the Granton Gas Holder 1 Park saw a fantastic turnout, marking another milestone in the area’s major regeneration project.

🚨Great News! 200,000 people in Scotland will get a pay rise because of the increased national minimum wage this week!
