I’ve always loved film music and a large part of my appreciation for it is because of John Carpenter. I had the opportunity to champion some of my favorite underrated scores by the Prince of Darkness for @bloody-disgusting.com, and am still pinching myself about it.

A #LastFourWatched of two halves this #LetterboxdFriday. On the side of good... Nia DaCosta's triumphant return to horror. Sean Baker's spellbinding tale of abrupt fatherhood. On the rotten side... How not to make a Resident Evil movie. Cheapo Western horror making a deal with the AI devil.

I loved 28 Years Later and its weirdo folk horror-infused evolution of the original. The Bone Temple is a different beast, but I love it just as much.

Went to see Primate (which was a secret screening here cos we get it end of Jan) and I did get a chuckle at six people standing on the aisle steps with 20 minutes left, arguing quietly about leaving. The gist of it was some of them felt that a certain scene was too much and they'd had enough.

Ponyo. First Ghibli I saw on the big screen, and it was with my then girlfriend (now wife) who was already a long time Ghibli fan (hers is Laputa). Having kids in the subsequent years gave me fresh appreciation for it, and "Haaaam!!!" is probably the most quoted movie line in our house, even now.

The end was a lot more fun than the start!

That half-a-Bond series run got Lois Maxwell the most-watched-actor honour, and Sidney Lumet was well out in front on the director side of things.

Whenever James Ransone showed up in something, he'd always be memorable. Of course his Eddie Kaspbarak is one of my favourite things about the IT movies, but his performance as Chester in Tangerine sees him just waltz in late and steal a whole movie.

Went back to Donkey Kong Bananza having left it after a few hours. Right in the groove of it now and probably one of my fave games this year. I do love a platformer in December. Games like the original Sonic, and Jak & Daxter are forever associated with this time of year for me.
