Your transition is your business. You do not owe transition to anyone. For the same reason, you never owe someone else detransition. It's never really on the table. Their decision is about whether they are safe + want you around, instead of the image they know.

yeah it's just power and control. They say they don't believe trans people are really who we say we are and therefore shouldn't be allowed to transition at all. They find it a lot easier to make this argument with the most vulnerable of us than they do with grown adults. Everything else a bonus.

The support network that kept me supported as a closeted trans person (read: "ally" who everyone already clocks, in context) did not actively support me when I came out. That's now in the past. It's why I did not come out sooner. I am not detransitioning. But I understand generational coercion.

When I complain about life in society, it's because society treats trans people like shit, not because being trans sucks. Being trans is awesome. Transition is awesome, and not at all mandatory. So awesome that transition makes complete sense, even in a society that treats trans folks like shit.

It never ceases to blow my mind that so many tech, sci-fi, futurism backers ended up swinging so far right. Did they entirely miss the point of the sci-fi novels? That identity, self, personal exploration is something we can nurture and grow? It's like instead they said, "no we like the dystopia."

I don't want performative "allies" who post "trans people are valid" and call it a day, I want tangible help with my transition, privacy and safety. Affordable transition care, retroactive name change privacy laws, jobs that hire trans people when no one else will, etc.
