Had my last check-in for the year with my diss supervisor and, with the promise of a last polish, got the 👍🏼 to send my last content chapter to the committee. Then I think we’re on a little break until January… inasmuch as one goes on a break while writing a dissertation, I guess. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Chapter 3 submitted to supervisor. Now need to clean up and format Works Cited.

I find myself trying to explain to my very American professor why we use “sir” to preface someone’s name. (Buti na lang hindi “mamsir” mas mahirap pa yun 😅)

Found myself juggling a bunch of non-diss books the past few days: 1/3 through La Belle Sauvage (Philip Pullman) A chapter into The City and the City (China Mievielle) … and The Strength of the Few (James Islington) just dropped into my Kindle, which means I need to re-read The Will of the Many!

Pre-ordered from @bookshop.org ages ago and finally arrived. Clearly Katabasis is a PhD book so I really need to finish my chapter so I can read this.

Heading into the 5th year of PhD (not my arm).

Today’s conversation with PhD chair was mostly about being held to a higher standard because he knows I can do it. I actually don’t mind it - I’m glad to work with someone who cares about what I can/can’t do, and pushes me towards quality work.

During my last great socmed purge in 2016, I pretty much let go of Twitter and FB (my accounts were almost a decade old at the time and I had a pretty decent friend list for a private account). Now I’m thinking of ways to decouple myself from IG (again, to protect my brain).

Ngl I am trying to shift my daily writing to a weekly calendar-style planner but most of my heavy writing work is still on Scrivener and Zotero.

It’s an excellent essay and I’ve used it in a journal article recently. 🤩

The scream I scrumpt when I saw the @loadingreadyrun.com announcement for #magiccon Chicago was loud and with manic glee. Friday Nights literally saved my brain from having a full meltdown during the pandemic. It was my comfort show. I would rewatch it endlessly.
