One of my favorite things is seeing developers be so excited to launch their games. This ones looks special!

Today feels like a lot of potential banger games are coming out. I already bought Love Eternal and Under The Island, which look awesome in different ways, and then considering Seafrog and Skate Bums... Video game are great!

I'm going to present this as evidence to my wife as to why it's OK that I'm sometimes anti-social. "I just don't want to get trapped in a sunk cost fallacy!!"

Top 5 for me easily.

Everyone who plays Virtual Boy for the first time through this Switch contraption... Just know that it's stolen valor!!! You weren't there in the trenches giving yourself an astigmatism by beaming red lasers directly into your eyeballs for hours. I was there man... I was there.

I was inspired by @tolkoto.com to play Spyro the Dragon for the first time in my life. Really enjoying it, but this is the crazy thing I had to do to find and free one of the dragon dudes. Paused part way through because I was pumped 😅. Anyway l, this game rules!

I will not be elaborating further, but I was playing Escape from Ever After @escapeeverafter.bsky.social last night and got my ass beat by a grandma several times. Had to walk away from the fight for now. This game rules so hard, you need to play it if you like Paper Mario-style games.

It may be time for me to go back... This game has changed so much since it launched and looks beautiful.

This man is insane, and I love him for it.

And then I'm playing Escape from Ever After and it's better than any modern Paper Mario game outside of remakes/remasters. I would love for Nintendo to look out into the world and find some inspiration from what other developers are doing, rather than business as usual.

I started playing @escapeeverafter.bsky.social (Escape from Ever After) today. I’m about 4-5 hours in, and I am hooked… I love the world, the story, the dialogue, and Mr. Moon as a character. I can’t wait to keep moving the story forward. This is a must play game!

I decided I’m going to start a thread of games I’ve finished in 2026. Nobody cares, but I’m going to do it anyway for my own sake. I plan to go outside my comfort zone (and already have). Going to be a fun year of gaming!

I love how @remapradio.bsky.social has basically become Waypoint 2.0 (in terms of hosts/people involved). I love that group and it was my go-to for anything video game related (alongside Giant Bomb). Having @danika.bsky.social back has been amazing. Check them out if you also miss that era!

I am nearing the end of my time with Big Hops from @luckshotgames.com and I just have to say that this game is not getting enough attention/love. It is extremely ambitious and there are so many unique game mechanics that make it a blast to explore each world. Could easily end up being my GOTY!

My only "silver lining" hope in regard to AI is that it makes us learn to appreciate and respect true human creativity more than ever before. I just hope we learn that lesson before the earth is destroyed.

If we would've just stopped at Xbox 360 level graphics and Transformers (first Michael Bay movie) level visual effects, none of this AI stuff would've happened. The race for photorealism has always felt like such a wasted effort. Art style is so much more important, in my opinion.

Too many games are roguelike deck builders when they could be metroidvanias instead... just saying.

Hey tech companies... so when I disable your stupid AI features from the programs and apps I use, that doesn't mean I want you to put up a window every time I open it where I have to X out of it saying I don't want to use your AI features. Thought I was pretty clear that I'm not interested. Thanks.

There are so many games out there crafted by humans, so there is zero reason to buy or play a game that was "developed" using generative AI. I'll just play any of the other hundreds of games made by real people.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read, across any industry. If you burn out your high performers, and keep burning them out, then eventually there will be no one left to burn.

Yes! In fact, if you were to tell me that your product DOESN'T have AI, I would be way more inclined to buy it. The Meta Ray Bans are a great example. I would love to have smart glasses so I can record my kids' sporting events and performances, but they are built on Meta AI so that's a hard no.

Finally getting around to playing Donkey Kong Bananza and after a few hours, I think I love it? The way you can just completely destroy the terrain, punching and rolling around like a mad man (ape?)... it's so good. And also Pauline is adorable. The vibes are immaculate.

It's that time of the year again

The #1 movie when you were 10 years old is how your 2026 is going to go.

For me, it's Tales from the Borderlands for sure. I got so invested in those characters and laughed out loud so many times... Still one of my favorite experiences against all odds because it's the Borderlands universe that I didn't care about past the first game.

Techbros seem to love Tolkien, so here's an analogy to help you understand what genAI is. GenAI is The One Ring. You think your use is justified, b/c you don't have evil in your heart. But it came from evil, it is intended for evil purpose, & anything you do with it will be twisted to that end.
