After playing the Marathon Server Slam for a few hours, I just wish it had a narrative campaign. Bones are there for a good game, though; it's got a great visual style and great movement. That extraction gameplay is holding it back and gets repetitive fast.

There are so many fun, creative things I'm currently doing or about to do soon.... and it feels hard as hell to stay encouraged or engaged with any of them right now. Probably even more of a reason to try anyway.

Finished the rough draft of my cyberpunk short story! It's now part 1 of a 2 parter, as there was a nice end and cliffhanger. Now, to start editing the thing!

Found out "The Only Good Indians" by @sgj.bsky.social was about to be out of print, which was the nudge I needed to add it to my library. Read it digitally and really dug it! Great psychological horror by way of nature and guilt. Put it on my living room shelf with other cool stuff.

Currently working on 3 very different musical projects, and I have not yet imploded! I was worried the styles would start to eat into each other, but so far, so good.

Raided my freezer and ended up making a pretty decent late lunch. Fish sticks, fries, and some cheddar biscuits. Had some cocktail and tartar sauces to dip in to. Who says you can't eat good with random freezer foods? Not this guy!

Pulles into the drive-through of a fast food place today and was met by the usual automated welcome message. This is usually followed by an actual person who then takes my order. Except, the automated voice kept talking and even took my order. Tried to upsale me for every item, too. It was weird.

I'm good at lots of things and can pick up new stuff relatively quickly. Not great at any one thing, but good. More a jack of all trades, but master of none. So, I guess maybe I'm really good at being flexible and filling in places where there is a need.

Once upon a time, my wife and I had a pop culture podcast called "We Ruined Everything". There was this prevailing idea that Millennials were ruining culture, so we thought it'd be funny to just embrace it. I miss making them. Maybe we'll do one again. Maybe.

Bad stuff in the world right now, but I want to talk about Stranger Things. Production wise, great stuff! There are great moments with actors acting their asses off. I think that's why I'm disappointed. The ingredients are there, but in the hands of showrunners who didn't know how to use it.

1000+ words into my cyberpunk short story, and it feels good! It's been in my head for years. Probably going to have to edit a big chunk of it, but that is for future Dave to do. Right now, I'm just getting the story written down first.

I think that Pluribus is gonna end up being an allegory for how we all deal with the end of the world. It just fits. An extinction level event happens, and how do we deal with it? How do we live with that knowledge, even as the world goes on in knowing ignorance. That's what I think it is, anyway.

I went walking around our local canyon lake today, trying to get back into nature, you know? Well, as close as you can while car and construction noises echo about, anyway. There this one place along my walk that reminds me of Simon Stålenhag's landscape art.

I'm putting together and editing a cyberpunk short story collection with a great group of people, and it's awesome! Worldbuilding and developing the framework of the world have been some of the most fun I've had in a bit! Seeing cyberpunk stories from diverse backgrounds is the cherry on top!

Anyone else really enjoy playing Helldivers 2? Specifically, picking a city stage on an automaton world, putting on some Terminator music or darksynth, and getting lost pretending you're in the future war section of the Terminator movies? Or isn't just me?
