this point really hits the nail on the head of why localization workers are so frustrated by “AI” loc companies. freelancers have to beg for a single dollar wage increase, while tens of millions are dumped into a machine designed to replace them. the machine doesn’t even work. freelancers do.

Exciting to have two books I've worked on on the list. And I hope this leads to more people checking out The Mark of Erdrick. Whether or not you're an existing DQ fan, it's a worthy series.

If you don't want this to become the norm: speak up. Fans, professionals, everyone, needs to report the issue to the company. Flood them on socials. Email them about the issue. Tag the Japanese author and publisher. Companies think audiences "don't care about quality". Show them that we do.

Sheeeesh one thing I’ll say for us xillenials is that when we pirated games or cheated on tests, we just did it. We didn’t make dumbshit excuses about sticking it to the man. (Also: Not surprising how this has all turned out since education is now about finding a job and not learning for growth.)

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.
