TIL a new Romain Gavras movie called SACRIFICE starring Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek, and Vincent Cassel, and co-written by a SUCCESSION scribe, premiered at TIFF last year and is coming out August 20. I'm ready to snort this movie off a mirror.

When I was growing up, THREE AMIGOS was one of the two funniest movies I’d ever seen (the other was COMING TO AMERICA) and I would watch it endlessly. But EUROPEAN VACATION and FLETCH were also in the rotation. Chase was a God to me as a kid. Not so much now!

Although the NYE TV coverage was a ghastly parade of creaky boomers exhumed from their irrelevance coffins to prop their wrinkled asses in front of drunk dads and pretend they still rock, the one bright moment was Morgan Freeman singing “Bring It On Home to Me” and “Lean On Me” in Clarksdale, MS.
