The funny part about daylight savings time is that I am ready for sleep at 9:30 now where a few days ago it would have been 8:30. I try to get to sleep earlier every night leading up to the change and always end up with at least 1 way past midnight evening beforehand.

Last week two men with very heavy European accents made a point of saying thank you for listening and helping us. Everyone deserves to be treated well regardless. Period. I felt so bad when I heard that because I knew people made it harder than it had to be. They are trying to do their jobs too!

The swiftly rising fuel prices and pending weather have my 50-ish brain in full out prep mode. A friend reminded me that growing up we had far less than many, so we are far more likely to prepare for the worst case scenarios because we have already lived some form of it.

Storm is blowing in so I’m prepping the loaf of Italian herb bread I made yesterday for croutons.

I call it “ghost cat”. Has anyone else been fast asleep and felt the cat they don’t have hop into bed and get comfortable? It happens when I’m not quite 100% out but it happens a few times a month. When I’m alone the WTF thoughts have me checking locks and wandering the house.

I’ve been focusing on serving myself first lately. The house is almost decluttered and my to do list is much shorter. I’ve scheduled playdates with friends and days exclusively for me this month and I feel like I’m on the right track to reach my goals. I enjoy structure and really needed to do this.

My potatoes arrived and I couldn’t be happier! Making a potato salad for the week and stew for tonight.

I found an independent local produce grower who delivers for free and has great prices. I’m really looking forward to trying his pink fingerling potatoes next week. I will definitely share photos. The Sunshine market is also open again for pick up orders.

Mom managed to sneak out to carve another snowman. The snow is coming down and it is supposed to fall and blow all night. Got to love a good Nor’easter in PEI!

Visited Okotoks last night on my way home and its famous big rock. Got rained on a bit before the wind picked up and I headed home.

Took a little road trip. I forgot how beautiful the foothills are. They are way too dry but the ground was at least moist. I came home to high winds and reports of several grass fires.

My phone updated and I don’t know how to work my emails or maps anymore. WTAF?! I am so done with technology today.

This is invaluable! I brought up a dangerous situation last year and watched the City quickly correct an issue they were completely unaware of. They planned and built a much safer crossing for the dozens of youth who use it daily to catch their school busses.

This area has had several fires creeping up through the coulee towards the houses. The people who typically start it are smoking on the walking trails below. I remember a concert that waited to start until the English Oaks folks had a chance to run home to check on their homes.

Mom gave me one of her journals when I last saw her. I tucked it away and read it cover to cover last night. 2005. I knew a lot of what transpired, but wow! A time when you could call or send emails but they didn’t have a computer at home.

I remember when there were so many businesses in the mall that the seasonal ones paid for booths and carts down the middle. Now they are in the empty locations where businesses used to be year round. The mall was so quiet tonight!
