Dr. King did amazing things, but often we only talk about his successes. Dr. King also had some "failures", and they are important to discuss because we often learn a great deal from failure. And failure can inform or grow a movement, like Albany, Georgia's failure did for Dr. King. /1

So I am that very rare person (at least for another week or two) who can say that I watched the US remake of DOC MARTIN--Fox's BEST MEDICINE-- before seeing a moment of the original. Well, I've now seen the first episode of the UK series and... I like them both! Plots are remarkably similar, btw.

Back in 1975, the FCC implemented a short-lived rule which required nets to air family-friendly programming from 8-9 pm. It only lasted two years, but CBS had to move All in the Family to 9 pm. Norman Lear and the cast responded with this awesome remake of the showâs theme:

To me it's an extinction issue. If Paramount buys Warner Bros., Warner Bros. no longer exists in any form in three years, which does at least as much damage to theatrical as a Netflix purchase will do. At least with Netflix's immense revenue, there's a chance--just a chance--for a better outcome.

I think the Netflix deal is ultimately better for movies and for WB than a Paramount deal (which I 100% believe would end WB) or a Comcast deal (which would take the two best-functioning studios in Hollywood and reduce them to one). I'm open to arguments, but "None of the above" isn't one.
