26 years ago today, in what feels like a forgotten windstorm, Seattle gusted to 60 mph. There was no school for thousands of kids the next day — Seattle’s latest (in the school year) wind-related school closure in memory.

What a fabulous start to March! Made it up to 62 today with plenty of afternoon sun . ☀️

Dark and stormy night ahead! Prepare for heavy rain and gusty winds—near 50 mph in the Seattle area. At this time of year, that’s usually not enough to cause widespread power outages as trees are bare/weaker branches have already fallen. We’ll see.

For the first time in 16 days, Seattle had a high temperature yesterday that wasn’t between 41-44 degrees. Give it up for Jan. 27’s 47-degree max 👏

Rain? Snow? Rain/snow mix? All of the options are on the table from Saturday onward. At this point, given Seattle’s uncanny ability to thwart snow if at all possible, I’d lean toward a chilly rain for most (boo! Boo!) Don’t get out those snow boots quite yet. ☹️

Would be surprised if Seattle didn’t at least see snow in the air from the upcoming pattern (next Saturday onward).

For the past two weeks, the high temp in Seattle has only varied by 3 degrees! From Jan. 12-25, the high has been between 41-44 degrees.

With a low temperature of 29°, today marks Seattle’s ninth straight day with a low at or below freezing.

More cold but dry weather is on tap this weekend. Highs will be in the 40s, lows in the 20s … FOR LIKE THE THIRD WEEK IN A ROW!

With a low of 26°, today tied Tuesday for the coldest temperature of the winter. It was also our 7th straight day with a low at/below freezing. 🥶 I know, I know…they’re laughing at us even in the Deep South.

To all those cities complaining about how New Orleans has received more snow than they have… At least you’ve seen SOME snow! ❄️ In Seattle, we haven’t even seen a single snowflake this winter. As in, nothing. Zilch. Nada. (Did I jinx things? I sure hope so!)

Heads-up! Potential for a region-wide windstorm Thursday morning as deep low approaches central or southern Vancouver Island. The further south the low = the greater threat for damaging winds (50 mph+) in the metro area. Stay tuned!
