I experienced the same, both directions. It's busy, and not because of events... because people want to ride the train! I talked to a Carnation, WA 60-yo couple who parked at Redmond and took the light rail (their first time ever!) to the market for lunch. They plan to ride more going forward!

Happy April Fools, folks. This year continues one of my favorite trends of having fun on my survival realm. Here's this year and the last 3 years. It's hard to play pranks when things are so far from normal 😅 We tread a fine line between laughter and cautious fear.

Interlining is so nice. I got off a train to make a quick dinner pickup along the way home, and only have a 2 minute wait when i get back to the station to continue my journey. Detour time of 6 minutes. So beautiful.

New announcement from Katie Wilson at the HDC Luncheon: Phase 3 and 4 of the Comprehensive Plan are substantially changed and are being rewritten on a faster timeline, and notably higher density! (Phase 2 will remain largely as-is)

As a more recent transplant to the area (post red-line drama), I've never once thought of our naming scheme as odd. Taking the 1 line, taking the train, taking the light rail, etc... all were so easy for me to say without a thought. We've made a good system. Though I never say "Link".

Shocked? No, not anymore. Amazed? Yeah, kind of. Totally damning numbers, but it means nothing because we get these reports every day.

Today more than ever, I feel I can do this in Seattle. And it'll only get better.

All night long, starting today! Night time travel has a long way to go in our region, but it's so nice to have more new transit options :) Especially to an ever-growing airport ahead of a world cup that's set to double our city's population!

2 Line in Seattle opened today to great fanfare. There were tens of thousands of people celebrating, with lines at times lasting upwards of an hour to board the train. Incredible achievement for the region!! (As an aside... this graffiti tunnel will absolutely one day be a tourist attraction.)

I feel like this is just The Story Of Seattle. The good folks here try to appease everyone and water down their own work, in search of approval that they get from nobody (including themselves), and in the process spend money doing it. Oh yes, there's a wikipedia article about this.

Shared Micromobility is such a critical, essential part of our transit network. I'm so happy to see @seattledot.bsky.social recognizing this by accommodating and advocating for parking/usability improvements. And I'm excited to push things further. This is transit. City-own, partnerships, Orca...

This plan represents the continued lack of vision from OPCD -- there is such great potential in Northgate for so many of these goals, as residents stated. Yet the changes to zones, streets, trees.. are so painfully marginal -- not visionary. It's depressing to see this; we have so much potential.

Someone forgot what the hell the point of the bill was

Imagine if we had a legislature that cared? Instead, we have bills with poison pills, a *eliminated* forestry industry, bonds for highways, and none for trains. And with that crapjob done, the legislature goes on vacation for the rest of the year, and we'll still pay them for it.

This is so wonderful. I love this so much. You can see the "I'm a politician, I have to weasel my way through beliefs and appeal to money" vs "I know my stuff. I have morals. I have principles. I know what's right, and here's my answer."

They say what you do on Valentine's Day shows what you truly love in this world. I spent my day exploring my beautiful city and celebrating its joys and wins. And I do love it.

And yet, the word "transit" has never been used on the governor's page. Not even once. This is climate arson. Why don't we provide the same 24/7 work and seemingly unlimited funding to public transportation? Millions of people would be served and connected. We could be leaders. And yet.

Seattle Social Housing Developer anticipated $50m in funding. They got $115m. The plan has been to convert this into bond debt that will 3-4x its usable value, so they may be operating this year on a half-billion dollar budget. Starting real strong. www.capitolhillseattle.com/2026/02/with...

Genuinely jaw dropping non-car usage today. Parking lots downtown have lots of space, as do car ferries, and highways. Meanwhile, public transit is consistently 105% full. Good job, Seattle 😁😁😁

Basically my immediate reaction to hearing this. I'm like ok.... how long until it misidentifies a person of color as an animal cuz their dataset is white people? And how long until they "comply with federal orders"? Not that I was surprised.

On that note, congrats Seahawks win! I'm not a big sports person but happy to have something worthy of collective celebration and joy here. ...and secretly hoping for light rail ridership records with the parade 🤭

People get hurt more from being sent to their death than from a whistle. I understand that the organization's goal isn't to prevent deportations, but to hold family's hands as they're being kidnapped. But don't tell the rest of us that we're in the wrong for keeping our communities alert.

In a world where upcoming expansions are focused on West Seattle, Ballard, more than the East Side, and the new members of the System Expansion Committee are incredibly competent, I'm not upset about this -- particularly because Balducci is still at ST, focusing on much-needed rider experience.

When a new feature is added to a product, the new code has to interface in some, or many, ways with the old code. We never restart the old code, we just add the new stuff on top of it. As a result, everything tech is bloated and unmaintainable, and will break more and more.

So, debt? And why is this only mentioned when funding climate-regressive modes of transportation? Where's your overconfident spending of money when it comes to the state's intercity rail and bus systems? Why aren't those treated the same, despite being much more efficient?

Crazy idea. Funding more, better transit = more riders = less cars = less traffic. Congestion pricing revenue could go directly to transit improvements. At minimum, a congestion pricing pilot during the world cup would be great, hoping @mayorofseattle.bsky.social has plans.

Always remember, there are no ethics in the pursuit of wealth under capitalism. Insolong as eternal growth in generated revenue remains the goal, legislatures cannot rely on the morality of its businesses to do what's right.

ST East Link Nov status: 6 weeks of sim service. (Note: Currently 1 mo ahead of schedule! Sim Service from 2/14 - 3/28, so March opening is possible?) But non-revenue-impacting construction is preventing handover. We may see it open in April with closures/night shift construction, or wait till May.
