Honestly -- Electrifying public transit is low on my priorities list. Transit is already such low emissions per capita, I'd rather that money goes toward increasing reliability and changing the mode share. I bet the emissions saved by taking those cars off the road is greater than electrification.

I'm not much of a bus nerd. I was reflecting on how I'll be taking the A line down to the link opening on Saturday, and thought to myself.. "Wow, new rapid ride route to cross off the list! Usually I only ride the G or E! ...or d! ...or h... or c.... wow, I use this service more than i realize"

Great ideas, great projects, with an execution only possible by someone who doesn't ride the great projects they work on.

Just confirmed: Operator training now from CID to Judkins Park on 1-car trains. Mon/tues to be 4 car trains. Week after to be 1 to 4 car trains interlining from South Bellevue to Lynnwood. The following week will be from Redmond to Lynnwood. No passenger riding until EOY/until Spring full opening.

There is a rumor circulating that March 14 will be the crosslake opening date. Based on the September report that released a few days ago, that's plausible. Eliminate float (3/27), bump pre-rev to immediately following SIT (2/15), and overlap/trim opening prep (3/14), and the timeline works. 👀

I really wonder what degree of action is necessary to reform this stupid process. Local reform alone isn't enough, because we're funding projects through more means than that...

Why do I tell everyone to vote? Because you end up in situations like this. Where Katie Wilson and Bruce Harrell are within 100 votes of each other. Reminder: Mandatory recounts are triggered if the gap is under 2000 votes. We're not done counting, but it's heading there.

Putting aside that we're using light rail for commuter rail purposes, this is a commuter rail strategy and is extremely effective at getting ridership up from car dependent suburbs without requiring massive park and rides. Kiss and Rides are awesome, especially with integrated bus stops.

These are gorgeous and this is why I'm so against arbitrary breaking up of the massing. The facade itself has more depth than most "modern" buildings, but there's no random segmented portions or major modulation here. It's simple and cohesive.

THIS is the attitude we need to have. Why do we treat people as subhuman because they don't have a house? Is it because it's easier to act that way than to reconcile that we're allowing fellow human beings to starve on the streets? All because we don't want to build homes for them to live in?

My hot take is that Lid I5 in the U District is as dumb of an idea as the Montlake lid. Billions of dollars on a lid no one will use because it's still surrounded by highway and we only build with concrete nowadays. That money should go to lid I-5 in downtown, not elsewhere (yet!)

And not only should you vote yourself, you should tell all of your friends to vote too! This isn't a federal election where our votes hardly matter. This is a LOCAL election. These are decided by just hundreds of votes! You individually make a huge difference. Vote by the end of this week!
