I had another great GDC this year. I enjoyed working as festival crew/conference associate. As for live stuff I loved the serious games round table, and the sustainability and accessibility workshops in particular.

Running a dnd 5e game with 4 players who have all dm-ed multiple games puts you in a situation where unless a fight is balanced to be at least 3x the deadly encounter level the team can beat any 1-6 monster encounter in roughly 1 turn

to the game devs that may see this: please give us the option to turn off motion blur as I'm sure there are people like me who cannot play a game with motion blur as it makes me feel sick and not having the option is a super bad feeling

Given recent conversations in the industry, I wanted to highlight some amazing organizations, resources, and community-driven groups working hard to advance accessibility in gaming. There’s a lot of great work happening — and it deserves more visibility. A thread ♿️♥️

New article for my blog, just a little bit about my accessible design capstone project from my Take This Inc. mental health and games fellowship.

One of my mentorship fellows @percivalkish.bsky.social pitched their capstone project: Accessibility Dungeons. A ttrpg dungeon crawler where making the dungeon more accessible (via IRL accessible design) is how you escape!

To my fellow creators

Note taking for games is something I've been fascinated with for a long time, both as a copious note taker irl, and a UX professional who has worked at studios making video games inspired by their more note heavy tabletop RPG cousins.

Another GDC in the books! I had a great time this year, got to meet my fellow Take This Fellows, reconnect with old friends, CAs, and colleagues. And make a few new friends besides.

With so much jadedness and toxic gloom pervading the industry, the optimism and camaraderie of GDC was such a necessary antidote. I witnessed so much creativity, passion, persistence, & kindness over the last 5 days. I’m returning home more excited than ever to support that version of the industry.

This talk was so good and I am still so obsessed with this slide from it. I have doodled these little guys in my notebook like 5 times.

I met so many cool folks at the GDC and thought I'd make the jump to blue sky to connect with more of the gamedev community.
