WILD that I can pull out an old CD copy of a game from 1996, put it in the DVD drive of a modern computer and just install and play it... Not *every* game is so flexible, but damn when it just works it feels *MAGICAL*

Real talk: Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves is one of the best light fantasy adventure films ever made. Right up there with The Princess Bride, Ladyhawke, and Krull. It's not as iconically funny as The Princess Bride, as beautiful as Ladyhawke, or as bizarre as Krull, but it's... Cozy and fun!

I love Yorgos Lanthimos's disquieting idiosyncratic style. He makes movies that *demand* constant interrogation. Bugonia leverages this to make you ask whose side has your sympathy: the big pharma executive and possible genocidal alien? Or the manipulative and violent conspiracy theorist kidnapper.

Completed Terminal Velocity. Not as good as it's successor Fury³. It felt longer and more difficult but the level themes aren't as creative and the music lacks the same punch. Still a good game, but if you have a copy of Fury³ you probably don't *need* Terminal Velocity.

getting back into oldschool arcadey space ship shooters. No not the vertical shmups like Xevious and not the space sims like Wing Commander. I'm talking Descent, Terminal Velocity, Fury3, and Hellbender. Stuff that's better described as suped up Doom clones.

I need someone I can watch weird and seriously uncomfy movies with. I'm building quite a stockpile (Gregg Araki's Teen Apocalypse Trilogy, and Liquid Sky come to mind) and keeping these experiences in my own head without sharing them with someone feels... dangerous.

It occurred to me that K-Pop Demon Hunters contains a neat bit of grammatic ambiguity: K-Pop could be modifying "Demon Hunters" as a unit as was probably intended OR it could be modifying "Demon" on its own. So the Demon Hunters could be K-Pop, but also the Hunters could be targeting "K-Pop demons".

Instead of streaming content producers bowing before their audience's phone addiction and tailoring their shows and movies to being second screen experiences they should be making shows that both COMMAND and DEMAND attention.

"AI art" criticism should abandon assessment of quality. It's not all that relevant to why most of us hate it. Most people I know dislike it for material or philosophical reasons relating to environmental and economic impact and/or their philosophical understanding of art's purpose and value.

AI "art" is dominated by copyrighted characters and anime girls... Is this the unleashed creativity AI is enabling? Fan art and cartoon women? It seems to me that people who are actually invested in their creativity want to put in the effort to build the skills necessary to indulge their creativity.

Evangelion is this deeply philosophical and psychoanalytic series, but it's also a series where a girl in a giant pink humanoid biomechanical weapon stabs another giant Mecha with the Eiffel Tower. It's nice to remember that at the end of the day Eva always has and will deliver on cool mecha fights.

I think I have a complete outline of this project which may be a stage play. I think I'm gonna solicit opinions from some of my theater, and theater adjacent friends before I go through the effort of writing a draft, but it's a neat story, and I think I've got a good foundation.

If you are lucky enough to live near a theater showing Frankenstein (2025). See it! If only because it's the most beautiful movie of Del Toro's filmography. It's writing, score, production design... everything is so tragically beautiful in Del Toro's uniquely grotesque way.

Ok so everyone knows Evangelion is predominantly about the characters and especially Shinji's journey of self acceptance and independence, but honestly? I think it's under-discused how cool AF it is. Rewatching the Rebuild movies and 2.22 is just 😍 incredible.

So here's the thing I grew up with the PC version of Battlefront II. I never had any consoles until adulthood. Yet BFII hits different on PS2. The PC version is superior but hot damn this feels right.

One of the problems with Ares is that it had nostalgia for the wrong movie. If they wanted to target Gen z they needed it to be nostalgic for Tron Legacy (2010). Instead it's nostalgic for Tron (1982) targeting Gen x and some older millennials.

Rewatching the Evangelion Rebuild movies on the new Blu ray release, and... I think it was a HUGE mistake for them to cast Spike Spencer again for this most recent dub. The dude is in his 50s. They really should have cast Casey Mongillo from the Netflix dub of the series. They're PERFECT!!!
