Well that was something! But it's all over but the shoveling, at least inside 128, right? Um, we might see some more snow Weds., doesn't sound like much, but given how much is already on the ground, even a little is too much, so we're only going down to 3 Slices for now.

Gov. Healey just banned road traffic in Bristol, Plymouth, and Barnstable counties due to the blizzard and dangerous road conditions - so let's hope that guy driving around Sandwich in his 4WD Ford Maverick is back home.

Reporter down! WHDH's Rob Way, in Marshfield had planted a yardstick in the snow, got out his plastic trash bag to show the wind's fury and then he went one step too far: He started clomping in the snow to show how deep it was, a gust came up and boom, down he went.

Healey: State of emergency in effect immediately. The Bunka has been activated. She's in a MEMA fleece. Non-critical state workers will work at home Mon. "This is one to take seriously:" Likely widespread power outages, downed trees, heavy snow, just stay off the roads.

Wow: NWS gets "bombogenesis" and "40/70 Benchmark" in a single sentence, a sentence that ends in an exclamation point, so we know we're in for it, even if we don't know what "forcing for ascent" is (sure, we could look it up, but we are shook) 1/2

Heavy snowfall (10-20 i.!), wind gusts up to 60mph, power outages, coastal flooding (stay off Long Wharf!) and references to the dreaded 40/70 Benchmark! Starting late Sun. or early Mon. Head out now, with grim determination, to fill your trunk with bread, eggs and milk!

With Jeremy Reiner now calling for a "nasty nor'easter" that will "wallop the area" with 10-15" and wind gusts up to 60 m.p.h. Sun-Mon., we've just raised the Alert to 4 Slices/High. Time to lay in those provisions for the storm ahead.

Had been looking like the Sunday mega'easter was going to mostly miss us, but now NWS says models are showing "a greater chance for widespread snowfall and coastal flood impacts." Still not enough to raise the Alert to true panic levels, but obviously we'll keep you posted!

Giganto'easter Sun. into Mon.? NWS says it's looking like it'll be out to sea, but we won't really get a better idea until tomorrow sometime. So sticking at 3 Slices for now, but we've got our eye to the sky (but watch out for some snow this afternoon and more on Fri.)

Touch of possible snow today, meh. But NBC Boston says we could see 1-3" from another storm Weds., and not the light, powdery stuff we've gotten used to, but wet, heavy snow. And then, "a few inches are possible" Fri. into Sat., with more possible after that! Definite 3 Slicer.

NWS has "increased confidence" in some light snow Tues. afternoon into Wed., with a slight chance of more snow Wed. night. But this is a "clipper" storm, not a nor'easter, so no 40/70 Benchmarkitude, no heavy snows, nothing that might attract the attention of Jim Cantore.

Have gone down to 2 Slices/Guarded now that the forecast shows the Sunday bombostorm heading well enough out to sea we won't get much snow (although some coastal flooding still possible). Good news if you haven't gone on a fixins replenishment run, since it's cold out there!

We've gone down to 3 Slices/Elevated, and will probably take it down a notch later. But NWS has us concerned about this coming weekend: "We continue to monitor a potential storm off the coast toward next weekend. Can we make it 3 sunday coastal storms in a row? We'll see!"

Yes, a bit late perhaps, but we've gone to 5 Slices / Severe. No, won't be a blizzard, but the NWS is now predicting 18-20 for Boston, the very heart of the Greater French Toast Region. And the governor is heading to The Bunker! At least for a 12:30 p.m. press conference.

NWS still talking 12-18 in. for us. BUT, they now add: "And given how dynamic the system is, thundersnow is a possibility, cue the excitement!" We'll do one better! We'll cue Jim Cantore reporting from Plymouth in 2015:

OK, so not a blizzard. But a foot (or more!) with temperatures in the single digits? You are NOT going to want to go out and you ARE going to want to stay home. You need to clear out space in your pantry/refrigerator now and rush to the store, while there's still time.

Sunday's storm won't be a '78/2015 blizzard, not a lot of wind to create megadrifts, but with temps barely breaking 0 (yep), it's not going to melt and you might have trouble getting out for all the fixins because your car won't start. So go out today

So, megahumungous storm developing this weekend. Staying at 2 Slices/Guarded for now, because NWS models are very conflicted about whether it will bombogenize over the dreaded 40/70 Benchmark and slam us. We'll keep you posted, natch.

The bulk of the snow is done (might be a flurry or two), but we're only going down to 2 Slices/Guarded, NWS says something might be brewing for *next* weekend. Or maybe not. Traditional models say bone-chilling cold. AI models say maybe a coastal storm. Which to believe?

NWS now mentioning the dreaded 40/70 Benchmark, the Sunday storm will pass just SE of it, so no 2015 replay, but enough snow you probably want to be inside from late morn to 11pm or so. Double check your fixins and head out now or first thing in the AM. 3 Slices/Elevated

Latest NWS forecast mentions possible "plowable snowfall" on Sun. Also says, possible nothing. But now we're thinking of a nice warm batch of French toast, slathered in butter and right mapley goodness after we've shoveled our mountain pass, so we've gone to 2 Slices/Guarded.

"The threat for an impactful coastal storm late in the week has diminished," NWS says. Latest models agree the Thurs/Fri lowwill pass well south of 40/70, which means any snowstormishness would be in northern New England, so nowhere near the Greater French Toast Region.

Storm by Friday? NWS is unsure this early in the week on what will actually happen. In fact, says current models "indicate the low moving across anywhere from NW MA, SE MA, or completely offshore." So snowmageddon, rain or nothing at all. But we'll keep you posted.
