Looks like parts of the Gtr French Toast Area could get a bit more snow than the dusting we once thought. NWS says there's a chance of up to 4' right up to the Neponset. Might want to make a fixins run Sat. because we could get iced in Sun. night (then it changes to rain).

Might wind up as a white Christmas after all - NWS is no longer saying we can expect snow Tuesday to change to rain, it will instead likely just stay snow. Not a lot of snow, but enough to hunt Black Bart in the back yard (just be careful not to shoot your eye out).

NWS says we could get some snow Tuesday. But a white Christmas? Maybe not: Although the Greater French Toast Area might get an inch, it might also be washed out when the precip turns to rain. Still, worth an upgrade from 1 to 2 Slices.

"Confidence increasing for a potent storm system to impact the area late Thursday into Friday," NWS says, but, of course, these days that means lots and lots of rain, not snow (so get those Morrissey Boulevard and Quincy Shore Drive detour routes ready).

Latest NWS forecast says 1-2 in. possible south of the turnpike - maybe even 3-4 inches closer to the Cape - Sat. night into Sun., but just a dusting to an in. north of the 'pike. So people in Hyde Park, Roslindale might want to double check the fixins, while people in Allston and Cambridge, meh?

Snow? Is NWS saying snow? And even on the coastal plain? Yes, they are, more or less, for Saturday night into Sunday: "Now, before everyone becomes too excited this system doesn't appear to be a prolific snow maker." So 2 Slices.

The NWS says all the forecasting models now say we mostly can expect lots of rain on the coastal plain. So down to 2 Slices/Guarded, partly because the rain snow line is still pretty close to 128, partly because we might see a bit of snow on Thurs.

NWS now has two scenarios for Tues.: Mainly rain on the coastal or a chance of up to 6 inches in the Greater French Toast Area. Frankly, we're no longer used to large amounts of snow, so we're getting vexed - and raising the alert to 3 Slices.

NWS got us out of our tryptophan haze with news of a poss. storm Tues/Wed. At first looks like any snow would be mostly outside 128, but NWS says we could see a "gloppy/sloppy wet snow-to-rain scenario" on the coastal plain. So we'll start with 1 Slice/Low for now ...

3 Slices. We weren't feeling it last night - not after last weekend, a 4 Slicer that didn't really deserve it, the NWS is saying we could see snow, sleet and then rain, so tomorrow could be enough of a mess you won't want to go to the store, so you should really go out now.

It's a winter-storm-watch kinda weekend. NWS says 6-8, Matt Noyes says maybe a foot! But we're not going to 4 Slices because of this but because this storm could be followed by at least two more storms in a few days. That adds up to a lot of French toast.

Anytime the NWS mentions The Benchmark, we get a twitchy Alert trigger finger. A storm Sat. night could pass right over The Benchmark, but we'll restrain ourselves just a bit longer before raising the Alert to 4 Slices.

Have upped the alert to 3 Slices / Elevated, because we're going to get a mini-wallopping (2-3 inches with ice/rain on top). Then we could see a storm Sat. followed by one or maybe two storms Tues. or Weds.

NWS says there might be a few snow squalls Tues. morning, although likely well outside the Greater French Toast Area (yes, beyond 128). But then a "weak clipper system" moves in Tuesday night, possibly leaving behind 2-3 inches, "especially near and north of the MA pike."

NWS has expanded its winter-storm warning to all of the Greater French Toast Area - 4-8 inches with even the odd 10-incher. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency." Spare pet for warmth wouldn't hurt, we suppose.

NWS has issued a Winter Storm Warning right up to the Suffolk line for 8 inches Sun night, maybe even 10 in some spots. Suffolk and Norfolk only get a winter-storm watch, for maybe 4 to 8, but make sure the pantry is fully stocked: Snowstorms rarely follow county lines.

Yeah, nor'easter will pass well outside the dreaded 40/70 benchmark. But, NWS says we could still get "a quick dusting to 1 inch of snow, possibly localized 2 inches on Saturday." So throw on a couple slices with which to contemplate the (maybe) pretty dusting outside.

NWS says a potential nor'easter is heading our way, but it will mostly be outside the dreaded 40/70 benchmark, so it's mostly only going to churn up the fish well out to sea, but we could see 1 to 3 inches - or maybe even "a more significant impact."

Um, that's not rain on the coastal plain. At least it's pretty. NWS now says: "Gusty conditions and below normal temperatures continue Friday into Saturday with a low chance of an isolated snow shower or snow squall." So still a good reason to have some French Toast tomorrow morning.

Touch of snow Weds. into Thurs? NWS: "It will likely be cold enough for precip to fall as snow or a rain/snow mix all the way to the coast, but snow totals continue to look light at this time." We're staying at 1 Slice for the nonce, but might update to 2 if need be.

Who's dreaming of a white Thanksgiving? Forecast not set in stone, but the NWS is talking about possible snow Thanksgiving, and they're mentioning the dreaded 40/70 benchmark, so might want to throw some extra bread, milk and eggs in with your turkey shopping, just to be safe.
