There are 21 district courts — nearly a quarter of all district courts — where a lifetime judge of color has never served, and there are 41 district courts (nearly half) where a woman of color has never served as a lifetime judge. A woman of color has also never served on the 8th or 10th Circuits.

This seems huge, and deserves more attention. SCOTUS has gone out of its way to make it harder to sue Fed law enforcement for damages when they trample—sometimes literally—on your rights. Illinois just made it so their resident can sue the Feds in state court. Feds fail us, states step up.

It's a chilling account of what's become standard practice in ICE arrests these days—from a district judge who is no firebrand.

A truly extraordinary document. Judge Rodriguez throws out the indictment because "the Government’s conduct is so shocking to the universal sense of justice that it should be deprived of the opportunity to prosecute the Defendant." Hard to count all the different ways ICE lied throughout this case.
