Elimination of the elimination of cash bail in the states would take state action. Cash bail has been found to be ineffective, to disproportionately target people of color, and disrupt the lives and jobs of many (often innocent) individuals

Just a reminder of my favorite idea for a law student note: Pick an important Supreme Court case from 5-10 years ago, and see how lower courts are interpreting it. It's helpful for practitioners and courts, and something law students can research and present effectively.

OK, here's some context for this. Federal indictments may be secured by hearsay. Most are. The majority of federal cases are secured by a single agent going before the grand jury and summarizing the evidence against the defendant. The smaller the case, the more likely that is. /1
