When I was a kid, I was a big Shaq fan. And when playing NBA Live I had a player that I named Roy O‘Neal, cause I thought that sounded cool. Didn‘t follow the NBA too closely in the last decade, but I play 2k atm and there is Royce O‘Neale now. Feels like I manifestated him 😂

Still undecided if I should pixelate the image. One one hand it fits the style really well, on the other I like the clean lines on modern resolutions.

Reworking my little animation system (basically the same as the snowboarding game). This was confusing at first. I realized, it doesn’t just have to work switched, but also reversed. Had to come up with solutions for some hacks that I made, but the rough base is there now.

Just finished Öoo. What a fantastic game! I told my girlfriend about it, because I was so amazed by how it teaches you to solve the puzzles. She‘s a teacher an replied with a short monologue, about how this is actually a great structure to teach things in general. 🐛

Here's a technical one for all my #IndieDev freinds out there! Animated decals. Tiltshift has light platforming mechanics so I need a 'blob' shadow but dont want the boring circle, I also want to bake all my environments light & shadows. Special thanks to Mario Odyssy! =D

Getting there. About 2/3 done with unwrapping and adding vertex colors for powder distortion.

Level has been signed off and is ready for art pass. First step is getting all the road tiles in, adjusting spacing and collision, then we can start on art-ing the rest! You will notice that the sweepers are quite agile and nimble little machines, mastering them is no easy task though😉

How does Orbiters look the way it does? Such a cool style. I would hurt someone (lightly) for a Zelda game in this style.

Playing around with the idea of giving it more of an N64 look. Super blocky terrain, strong fog, very low poly assets. Need to look more into vertex painting. But, the biggest thing so far was to get a terrain with offset for the powder going.

AI used to be fun and create some wild stuff. Now it’s just lame corporate bs. What a sellout. (This was some years ago. I had a good giggle at how bad it was back then. At least it was fun to see it fail)

I wanted to recreate that effect from snowboarding magazines, where they had the whole trick sequence in one image. It was surprisingly simple to do.

Started playing Luigis Mansion on switch (the GC one). Despite some of the old game weirdness, it’s really cool. Love how every room is it’s own little puzzle so far. (I‘m not really into the 3d mario games, so a lot to catch up to)

I was unhappy that in my ragdoll the feet would not stick to the snowboard. While trying to fix that, I made the worlds most complicated ragdoll controller. Was able to delete a lot of it, once I figured out what the real issue was. Now it’s just some clipping errors left to fix.

Still a bit wobbly, but I like where it’s going. Using animation rigging to separately move lower and upper body so the mech orientates towards where it aimes and moves. Fewer animation clips to stay on top of.

I finally might be settling on a theme/setting.

I don’t have much experience with mech design. Exaggerating proportins helped to make it look less like a person in a suit and subdivsion surface to enhance the effect. But, I started building it around a human mesh, so it’s kinda baked in.

Been playing Hades 2 lots lately and love that they doubled down on the absurdity of the final weapon from the first one. Wanted to see if I can make a similar little pew-pew-mech. Still a little too humanoid for the scale and I just took a bunch of mixamo animations for the test.

Didn’t touch a basketball in over a decade. Bought one at the store today and found a nice little court just where I live and went to shoot some hoops. Can’t say I hit a lot of them, but it was fun.

Would love to revisit this one day. The car physics and car AI became frustrating at some point. I still think the style is nice.
