Right now, the hardest part of being a MCAS newbie is figuring out which online resources I can trust to guide me on this journey. I don't trust integrative or functional practitioners on YT, & MCAS isn't taught in med school. My doc isn't available outside of appts.

Crisis teams don't know shit about the needs of autistic ppl in crisis. I don't know how anyone accesses treatment. It's such a maze of unhelpful ppl calling too much offering nothing I haven't desperately tried several times already to help my family member.

I am a slow reader, but I am making my way through Jane Austen's books. It is a happy distraction. I am only a little ways into Emma. I am very sure that Mr. Woodhouse, Emma's father, is autistic. He does not mask. People are kind to him, especially Emma. Movies have left that part out.

Me, when I'm having a really good art day. What I teach my offspring: sometimes being different can make us feel very sad & left out. Days like these, our difference makes us stronger. Hold onto that, sweetie. Also me: Queen's Gambit flashback moment!

ER visit yesterday (kidney stone). My anxiety was even higher than my pain & nausea b/c I was trying so hard to be closeted. People were kind. I didn’t get profiled. Eventually I was able to relax & be myself. Past medical trauma sucks…

At some point it has to be possible to say "we have examined this question thoroughly and the answer is X; we're not coming back to it unless actual new evidence turns up". The conservative move is to keep demanding relitigation of settled questions until they get the answer they want.

The real research they’ll be doing is calculating how many “wellness camps” they need to build. That’s the fight we need to be ready for, to stop institutions from coming back.
