Went for a picnic on Saddleworth today. Really enjoyed celebrating the incoming season while getting ravaged by the last gasps of the outgoing one. This time of year is magical. ❤️

My current lunch break reading at work is Mrs Pankhurst's Purple Feather by Tessa Boase. I am LOVING this book. The opening chapters on feather workers in late Victorian London are a fascinating exploration of a lesser-known (and highly exploitative) industry.

Just had my traditional Christmas Eve twilight walk through the forest to my mum & dad's, and thanks to @cerihoulbrook.bsky.social's little boy, I felt like a fairy tale hero as I walked (avoiding the scary swamp). ❤️

A member of staff at a supermarket pharmacy (hopefully not actually a pharmacist) just accused me of being "stupid and difficult' because I "claimed there was petrol in the cold medicine". It was actually Vaporub, and I said petroleum jelly. But wow, that's some well-trained staff. 😱😱😱

I've got a WhatsApp conversation going about the time a Mitford sister wrote me an angry letter about tinsel. I've posted on Bluesky about why a zombie film annoys me. And now I'm going to post some mince pie pics on Instagram. I love technology.

I don't believe a zombie apocalypse would still be going on 28 years later. The whole point of zombie films is that infections spread exponentially, so humanity is doomed. That would take way less than 28 years.

My fingers hurt from correcting this old myth these days.

Today at the care home where I volunteer, we played our Guess the Housemate music game. We all choose 3 songs we like, then the residents have to guess who picked each one. I totally foxed them with a triptych of Bobby Darin, Brian Hyland and Me First & the Gimme Gimmes today. 🤣
