I’m currently reading CRATER GIRL by Polly Schattel via an early review copy. The main character is a trans woman who is on a mission to find missing Latina women in Alabama. One of the local boys nicknames her “Trancy Drew” and I laughed out loud.

The algorithm wants me to buy these spiked steel gauntlets and also this “burning man” skirt. And like…do I wear them at the same time or ?

Social media created this nonsense idea that not exposing yourself to hatred is isolationist. Choosing to not spend your free time with bigots isn’t living in a bubble. I don’t need to know what’s going on at X. I won’t be smarter or more knowledgeable or empathic by being there. Neither will you.

Today marks 14 years since 17-year-old, unarmed Trayvon Martin was shot and killed while walking home. 14 years later, we’re still demanding a country where our children can walk home in peace — without being treated like a threat.
