If you are new to creamy tahini dressings, the secret is that you have to whisk in only very tiny amounts of any liquids that you’re adding. You can end up adding several times more liquid than tahini, but if you add any more than about a teaspoonful at a time you’ll get a runny disappointment.

#Kai Dinner. “Progressive” dinner chez nous this evening. R’s manager suggested he work from home today, given the weather. So during his lunch break he prepped some roast veges. Around 5 we discussed what to put with them, and I prepped the rest.

I’m supposed toto be prepping for a market tomorrow, but I’ve only just been brave enough to come outside to get down to the workroom. At this point I’m not even sure it’s safe for me to pack the car tonight, that wind is kind of feisty.

Ok, it might be the middle of winter, shortest days, and going to rain for the foreseeable future, etc but at least it’s sunny today (albeit not in my garden).

Trying to console myself with the thought that we’ve past the longest night, the days are going to start getting longer, summer is more or less on its way… but then I checked the weather forecast for the next week. I just really need some frosty nights and sunny days with a breeze for the laundry.

Having awoken from my afternoon nap, I’m now contemplating if I have enough time to finish my new jeans before we head out for date night…

It was sunny today and I was actually organised enough to get to the station for a train that would get me where I needed to be in time if I took my bike… Wasn’t expecting the wind to pick up (how does the wind still surprise me after all these years???) but I was still biked back to Petone after.

R is watching cricket and the commentators keep mentioning someone called Sonny Baker. I thought my brain was playing tricks on me, because there’s a Boney M ear worm building. Then R announced that every time he hears it he thinks Ma Baker… Next time it happened, the song slipped out of my mouth.

Um... yes, that's the point of clicking the new email button and typing in a recipient, subject, and message. All these are quite normal things to change before performing the "send" operation. 🙄

That conundrum where you have to get up because you need to be somewhere in less than an hour, but there is a kitty sleeping on your legs. I’ve been hitting snooze on my reminder to get up for over half an hour now, but I don’t think I can put it off any longer…

I am *le sad* because I'm going to have to make my bed with sheets that don't match. Luckily one of the sheets that ripped was from a pair of flat sheets (not fitted) so at least whatever happens can can still have a top sheet, but they won't match in design or texture, and this will bug me greatly.

Can we automate the changing of the sheets please? I'd like them done every Sunday evening so I have a fresh start for the week. Because it's now Tuesday, and somehow it still hasn't happened. I got as far as clearing the bed so I can strip it, and hauling the winter duvet out, then had a sit down.

I’m now officially a qualified first aider. Been meaning to do it for years, but finally got there today as I need it for my Pilates teacher qualifications (and insurance).

Assuming I still have access to my home, my fabric stash probably exceeds my expected life-span (they reckon I should make it into my 80s). I could probably fashion a new fly belt for my treadle machine out of a leather hide (I have a couple in my stash). So… much the same as ever? 😂

Sewing o’clock. Wish me luck, I have to figure out how a fly is put together. (It’s not my first, but I’m not using a pattern. I should probably find some instructions to follow.)

Settling in for the final of GBSB! In what has probably been the strongest season of sewing skills so far, the final 3 aren’t who I would have picked at the outset!

#Kai Dinner. Started making myself a quick macaroni cheese, then remembered we had half a cauliflower in the fridge, so tonight’s dinner is a hybrid.

Just got home after doing the groceries on the way back from town and have realised as I’m getting out of the car that I forgot to go to Pete’s Emporium to get a zip for my jeans. Forgetting is kind of moot though. Traffic disruptions in the Hutt at the moment basically meant I couldn’t get there.

Sitting waiting for lunch and there’s a table of young men speaking French. There was like 90 seconds of conversation that was 90% filler words before one of them moved into the very French method of structuring their argument. (I’m not trying to eavesdrop, they’re just loud enough to get the gist)

I need some new jeans… Hope these will fit, can’t be bothered tracing off a new pattern. 😆

I have made significant progress this evening, however Adobe Illustrator is such a pain, because it loves to put in a single pixel of blank space around the patterns you create in it. I have just spent a good hour and a half trying to fix it. This is not a problem when I work in Inkscape.

In the interests of sharing my work... last week, I drew a rātā flower. Maybe this week I'll draw some leaves. And then a tūī swinging from a microphone. Woohooo. (please, bug me for progress!)

I had got myself really overtired and missed church last Sunday because I slept right through until 1:30. I was tired this morning too, but I made myself get up and ready, even though I was going to be a little late. Then I remembered that our Priest said to watch emails for a 1 off time change.
