My beautiful mahogany horse before we headed out on the cross-country course. Only third time on it so was very wary at first. We managed to do some small banks, both natural and man-made. Gorgeous evening was an unexpected bonus.

Pony pampering. Enigma is getting a clean for the dressage tomorrow. Not holding put hopes as she is on tippy toes and over enthusiastic as I took her a short hack and di a little schooling. On a break for lunch now before finishing up and getting on with tack cleaning.

Lovely hack out after not riding for a week or so. Enigma on tippy toes and had a few jumpy moments (pheasants, noises in the verge, type of thing, except the cattle, which she was perfect with).

The Nowegian steamer, SS Hestmanden is visiting Orkney as part of the Liberation Convoy commemorating 80th anniversary of the end of WW2. She is transported cargo during both WW1 and 2. Amazing to visit and look around, even the engine room to see the original steam engine, now powered with diesel.

Unexpected silverware at Orkney Riding Club showjumping competition today. Poles (on ground), crosspoles, and then late entry into the 40cm class. Enigma was fabulous. I smiled a lot! She is such fun to ride, most of the time. She definitely enjoys jumping.

Cracking afternoon (4hrs) pampering ponies, cleaning tack, jodhpur boots (and others). I know I won't have time tomorrow with a lesson, and D&D game (and associated prep) in the evening, with showjumping on Sunday. Sigurd's mane is spectacularly floofy after brushing.

This was given to me a couple of years ago by a student. It has been my coffee shop read for some time now. Just finished it with tears in my eyes. House in the Cerulean Sea was not really my cup of tea, but it grew on me. It was like a warm hug. Some unexpected moments. Heartwarming. Beautiful.

Enigma listening to Wardruna for the first time. Decided to have some music during an afternoon of grooming. She loathed music at the indoor school, but that was dreadfully crackly. Ready for dressage tomorrow, and a lightweight rug to keep her clean. Both brushed and polished.

Wardruna in Glasgow just blew me away. You don't just listen to them; you also feel them, emotionally and physically. Their set was non-stop with no break. The music ebbed and flowed like life itself. Powerful. Visceral. Earthy. Nature and the elements.

Roll on tonight’s Wardruna concert. First time seeing them having never thought I’d get the chance. Turns out the band is in the same hotel and got opportunity to have a passing brief converse with Einar Selvik… in the lift.

Another fantastic hack out in amazing, spring-like weather, albeit chilly. Enigma was a superstar again. Brilliant up the hill and with traffic (mostly). Ears always pricked. Always eager.
