Tonight, the Nevada Senate stopped the $1.8 billion #HollywoodHandout! The message was clear that we must put Nevadans over billion-dollar corporations. Thank you to all the legislators who voted NO on #AB5 #NVLeg

Today, we welcomed NEA Secretary-Treasurer @noelcandelaria.bsky.social. During his visit, ESEA CAT (Cafeteria Action Team) leaders Maria Contreras and Norma Vasquez presented their engagement plan (in Spanish), highlighting the power of grassroots leadership and culturally responsive organizing.

What's actually being "handed out" is just $2 per student in the Governor’s budget. Two dollars doesn’t cover increasing costs, including a 3.25% increase in PERS coming this summer. And it probably also means little or no increases for Nevada educators.

In a recent hearing, Governor Lombardo said funding will increase by just $2 per pupil. Of course, $2 won't keep up with increasing costs. Two dollars won’t cover most items on a typical elementary school classroom supply list!  We're here at the #NVleg to tell them to #PassThePlan

While the check size is comical, the consequences are not. Two dollars won’t keep up with inflation or a 3.5% PERS increase expected in July. $2 won’t cover basic classroom supplies. From pencils and crayons to notebooks and glue sticks, this budget falls short. #PassThePlan
