I am saddened to hear about the passing of former Alberta NDP MLA, Alex McEachern. Not only did Alex represent the residents of Edmonton-Kingsway for two terms, his dedication to the party and advocating for the well-being of all Albertans remained strong his entire life.

I checked out a new mural backstage at Festival Place with awesome Strathcona County staff (shoutout to Jenny & Lindsey!). The mural was painted by young artists in summer camps. The project taught teamwork, leadership & life skills. Let’s keep supporting local theatre & arts!

It’s been one year since the devastating wildfire in Jasper. Now is the time for governments and emergency agencies to reflect on both the successes of the response and the areas that need improvement. We must learn from Jasper to better protect communities in the future.

Basic swimming and water safety are life skills every Albertan needs. As we raise the flag on World Drowning Prevention Day, let’s commit to do better providing swim lessons for all school-age children.

$1.28 billion in UCP waste. The latest flip flop added $143 million in wasteful spending to the UCP's failed record. The cost of this government keeps rising, and Albertans are paying the price.

The Jasper Wildfire review is damningly clear about one thing: the UCP government exploited a life-and-death moment to play political games. And in their response to this report, rather than accepting responsibility and promising to do better, they lash out, insult others, and refuse any blame.

Adriana LaGrange is missing. It’s been 50 days since she addressed Alberta about measles. In that time, Alberta has surpassed the entire U.S. in measles cases. She’s responsible for public health. Her silence is a failure. Albertan’s deserve a government that will take this crisis seriously.

Yesterday, my team and I hosted a tent at the Strathcona Museum and Archives’ Multiculturalism Day celebrations. Multiculturalism Day appropriately lands just before Canada Day, reminding us of the cultural mosaic that makes Canada such a vibrant and welcoming place for all.

Alberta as we know it today simply would not exist without the millions of immigrants and refugees who built it, who loved it, and who were proud to call it home - including my grandparents and my mum. This bitter xenophobia is as unAlbertan as it’s possible to be. I’m ashamed. I’m disgusted.
