It’s almost my great auntie’s birthday, so I’ll share a little fun fact: She used to babysit Bob Dylan. He grew up in a home off 7th Ave in Hibbing, Minnesota and the home my great grandpa built from scratch was off 6th Ave.

I have finally sat down to read Never Whistle at Night cover to cover, rather than random stories. This book is so great. @shanehawk.com and @tvayyyy.bsky.social did an amazing job. And I heard the intro in @sgj.bsky.social's voice perfectly. Just, go get this book and read it, y'all.

Both my 3rd Great-Grandfathers on my Native side were chiefs. (Left) Black Hawk (where we get the surname ‘Hawk’ from) was Xosh-gah band Hidatsa and second chief at Fort Buford alongside Chief Crow Flies High. (Right) Black Kettle was “peace” chief of the Wutapiu band of the Southern Cheyenne.

Joey Clift’s book is playfully subversive in the best way, and I can’t wait to see the finished copy with Diné artist Julie Fiveash’s amazing illustrations. Congrats to the both of you! I’m honored to have written its foreword :) It’ll hit shelves October 6, 2026.

The 5-year-old arrested by ICE In Minnesota is detained at Dilley. We reported on conditions there in the below article. Parents said the food was contaminated with mold and worms & that children were so under so much stress that they were hitting their own faces & wetting themselves.

Today I was among fellow Penguin Random House authors in a panel titled Battle of the Genre wherein we discussed our respective genres. I think I made a respectable case for #Indigenous #Horror.
