You can't raid and arrest everyone in an entire apartment building, or even legitimately get a warrant to do that, any more than you could for a whole neighborhood. That would be a general warrant. This is the most specific core the-British-did-it-to-us thing the Fourth Amendment is written to ban.

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.

Five days ago, an ICE agent shoved a woman asking questions about the detention of her husband. Today they attacked two journalists. We cannot accept or normalize what has now become routine violence at 26 Federal Plaza. It has no place in our city.

Big transit systems should make it easier for low-income residents to qualify for free or reduced-price rides. Good suggestions here. Progressives should focus on ideas like these, rather than trying to drop fares entirely (which would be fiscally irresponsible, among other problems).

To Donald Trump: Stop using military troops and ICE to invade and disrupt American cities. Stop calling your political opponents “enemies” of the US. Stop attacking the 1st Amendment. Our troops and our nation deserve better than you acting as a petty tyrant.
