It's damn cold, but Chicago can stand up to a little ICE.

To @durbin.senate.gov and @duckworth.senate.gov: We don’t need more video angles of crimes being committed by DHS, we need them following the law. And having enforceable legal punishments if they do not, including the ability to personally sue an agent.

At the very least, Congress must disarm ICE, prohibit it from using racial or ethnic profiling, end arrest quotas, remove agents’ immunity from criminal prosecution and civil lawsuits, and slash its funding. The Senate has the chance to rein in ICE this week. Keep calling: (202) 224-3121

The removal of Bovino isn’t enough. His replacement is just as bad. @durbin.senate.gov and @duckworth.senate.gov need to write actual guardrails into law, and keep the government shutdown, if needed, to get them. Then when the next Congress is elected, Democrats need to go hard on dissolving ICE.

Okay. Time to call your democratic senators and tell them that Bovino’s demotion and humiliation WILL NOT SUFFICE to fund DHS.

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

Yes, the GOP controls Congress. That's why it's key to show Congress COULD stop the madness. And it's not just the DHS bill. Congress could repeal the prior multi-year $75b for DHS; set up a special investigative committee (cf. Watergate); amend the Insurrection Act; etc.
