This. ALL of this. As a K-12 school librarian, it is so hard. My MS kids want short books. Scary. Mystery. Not HS students in complex relationships and mature situations. MY HS want to read about their peers. 15-17 years old. Facing their issues. In their contexts. Using their skills.

Being at a conference like #LRA24 is always surreal, but the *community* aspect is crucial. Unlike in my daily, IRL existence, it is a relief to know that when I tell people I am a K-12 school librarian, here, I will probably not encounter someone who believes I should be hunted for sport.

I wish all schools in my area used the same schedule. It's a rural area. People work all over. My husband is in one district. I am in another. My children attend a third. We do not have the same spring break. We do not have the same Thanksgiving break. Seems like an easy fix.
