When I'm at my mum's, the TV alternates between old quiz shows and sport. I get so tired of this, very quickly.

I'm at my mum's and being forced to watch an episode of Bulllseye. It's basically 1980s horror.

My mum now has Alexa, which she is loving, but keeps saying it's not working. Probably because she can't remember how to pronounce Alexa. But she's very polite and always says please and thank you, as you'd expect from someone of her generation.

I am in Cardiff and very unusually people are speaking Welsh. Except for the words Camper Van.

Back in my home town for the weekend and attended the Garden Village Festival. Bumped into several people I haven't seen for between 20 and 30 years and had a great time catching up. I'll probably never see them again but it was such a lovely afternoon. All those memories of when I still had hope 😂

Good job I brought a fan with me to my mum's - my childhood bedroom is like a furnace.

1am and fireworks going off. This is Wales, not Vegas.

3 hour drive to Cardiff incoming. Really not feeling it in this heat.

It's still so hot that I don't feel like doing anything. I may as well go and read in bed with the fan on me.

Just realised I've been sitting here working all day without the fan on 🙄. I think the heat must have addled my brain.

Well I was going to go into work today, but they've decided to dig up the road which means I can't get out 🤷‍♂️. Not helpful.

I'm going to have a cool bath and see what that achieves.

Against all the odds, I actually slept quite well. The fan did a pretty decent job.

Don’t forget to check under the bed for monsters before you go to sleep, and make sure they’re properly hydrated.

Meetings all cancelled tomorrow as too many people were going to have to travel to them in 'unhelpful' temperatures. So that's a bit of a lie-in for me - assuming my bedroom allows for sleep later.

I've had to put a top on and turn the fan off.

My new fan is assembled and in position. Bring on bedtime.

For the Jane Austen fans amongst us, I've stopped off at Box Hill on the way home from work, as I've been in a room with no windows all day.

Why do I keep getting these popping up when I reply to someone? First it was Spanish then Welsh and now Akan - which I've never heard of.

I've ventured outside now the sun isn't so strong. Such a gorgeous evening out here.

Today's plans: keep the curtains closed, wear very little and try not to sweat too much.

Back home, stripped off, feet up, with a cold dandelion and burdock.

On the train, messing around on my phone and looked up to realise I'd gone past my station. Now waiting for the next train back up the line ☹️

Off to London larking about and seeing this today.

The mini moths are out in force. 2 have just flown into my face while I'm reading in bed.

The car that was sitting outside, presumably abandoned, since before covid, has now disappeared. The moss and algae were becoming quite a feature. The space has already been filled though. Le Roi est mort, Vive le Roi.

Just realised that I've booked Wed off work this week, so that's helping enormously with how I feel about Monday being almost upon us.

Managed to find some D&B in Waitrose. Seems to be a forgotten product now.

It's always sobering to come across someone's photos on social media that you went to school with and think 'don't they look old?'. Then realise that's exactly what they'd be saying about you.

Tonight's the complete opposite of last night - not in the least bit tired. Honestly, my sleep patterns are shocking.

It's looking lovely out there so I'd better stir myself to be productive. Look out world, here I come.

Friday night and I'm in bed earlier than a work night.

The double glazing repair man 'forgot' to take a bag of stuff with him this afternoon, so he's calling round for it later. Well that's his story.

This has felt like a long week, for no particular reason, but we've almost made it. Maybe the disappointing weather has made it feel uninspiring.

Good news! Some simple changes to my diet means that in 6 months my cholesterol level has dropped from 5.5 to 4.1 . Good to know that some things work. Unless you love cheese - then you might be stuffed.
