Fascinating pre-print. Are British Willow Tits really a separate subspecies? Evidence here they're most related to some birds in Alps, but with gene flow and song type inherited from birds on other side of Channel, with isolation/contraction (like now!). Complicated mix of some other populations.

I posted about an extremely early slow worm on 22nd Feb last year. At dawn this morning I found this one, exposed and apparently dead in my garden path. Became apparent it was alive but v.lethargic.
