I understand why someone would use AI coding assistance, it’s great when you know what you want to build and know mostly what you’re doing. What I don’t get is trying to one-shot things. What’s the point? I can see the value in it as an LLM tech demo, but for a product? Nah.

I'm experimenting with a way to show how DOS games render themselves. Basically I'm recording a lossless video of the game running on a very slow (virtual) CPU, then removing all the frames where nothing happens, and I'm playing it back sped up a lot.

I made a Doom source port that runs within a PDF file. PDFs support Javascript, so Emscripten is used to compile Doom to asm.js, which is then run within the PDF engine. Input/output is done by manipulating text input fields. doompdf.pages.dev/doom.pdf github.com/ading2210/do...

Yeah, Cabel's talk is great and I recommend watching it. The reason it's great is: 1. Cabel is just being himself 2. he's talking about something he's passionate about 3. he knows what he's talking about. If you have those three things, everything else just falls into place.

A couple of years ago, I started playing with PalmOS development. Code/Syntax/Capabilities were pretty limited obviously, but I was amazed by how little mobile development workflows have changed. look at this thing! IDE + Emulator/Simulator. This stuff is from 20-30 years ago!

Pro tip - I never use notifications for any social media app. Nothing can ever happen on social media that I need to be notified of. I only see it if I choose to check it. Protects my peace nicely.

lots of folks are using expo go in ways that we don't intend or support, which can lead to frustration for them when a new sdk version is released. we've put a bunch of work into trying to clarify the constraints of go vs dev builds, and will keep doing it. here's another go expo.fyi/expo-go-usage
