After a solid 15 years of having a recurring nightmare about signing up for a college class, not knowing I was enrolled, and then getting an F, I have now unlocked the teacher version. It’s similar, where you somehow don’t find out that you’ve been assigned a class until the term is over. 😵‍💫😮‍💨

The things I make time for in summer

I always call the summer faculty conference “summer camp for grown ups” and people thing I’m joking but today we made friendship bracelets that described our semesters so really please know I am dead serious.

Stuff that doesn’t get old: seeing your work appear in journals you read and look up to, being able to read citations in your second language, being able to read a citation of yours in a bilingual journal (article is in English but I’d love to get to a place where I can translate the whole thing!)

Today a colleague of mine told me that in a meeting with some folks he’s doing a project with, my recent publication in Kairos came up and was used as an example with some praise by total strangers. As a PhD student and non-tenure-track faculty person, I couldn’t stop smiling. ☺️

People often say “oh my God, Vee, your cats love you so much!” when I post pictures of them cuddling me. Please accept this evidence that they love each other most and I am but second fiddle for both of them.

Often this wee lass will fall asleep in the living room and miss my going to bed for the night. Not long after, I’ll hear a shrieking chirp-mrrrrp from the other room and she’ll come running with a very clear “Mum!! Don’t forget me!!” - I’ve never forgotten, Lilo, I was just letting you sleep!

I am one with the Benadryl and the Benadryl is with me.
