Roots of the Venerable English College (VEC). In 725, King Ine of Wessex founded an English Hospice for pilgrims close to St Peter’s Basilica. In 1362, a group of traders founded a new English Hospice on its present site, Via di Monserrato. In 1579, VEC was founded by Gregory XIII, as a seminary.

It is notable that Andrew has been arrested for "misconduct in public office", which is precisely what the US Supreme Court decided no American president can ever be charged with.
