They certainly aren't a no-frills squids. Comb-finned Squids (genus Chtenopteryx) are small squids with unique fins. Their fins have muscular ribs that give them look like a swimming ruffle chip. #SQUIDtember

I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

Like many squids in Chiroteuthoidea, Joubin's squid (Joubiniteuthis portieri) is a little freak. They are a very thin and lanky squid, and they have a long impressive tail that is believed to mimic sinophores. And by a little freak, I do mean little. They have a mantle length of 9 cm. #SQUIDtember

Longfin Inshore Squid (Doryteuthis pealeii) lay their eggs in large mops of egg capsules. These capsules contain symbiotic bacteria that are believed to protect the eggs before they hatch. The female squids also deposit a pheromone that makes the males fight after they touch the eggs. #SQUIDtember

I guess you could say they are feeling crabby... Pharaoh Cuttlefish (Acanthosepion pharaonis) do this unique arm posture and flapping technique which is thought to be them mimicking a hermit crab. I guess they got jealous of crustaceans having all the fun with carcinization.

I am once again here to remind you that behind the adorable face of a velvet worm is a cold-blooded killer that shoots silly string to trap prey before using a built in mouth knife to inject saliva that literally turns its victim's guts into goo for it to slurp up.
