I keep going back to this slide shown to the Sound Transit board this month, showing how "capacity building" means consulting firms, more consulting firms, and more subcontractors.

We now have the project-level breakdowns for Sound Transit 3 light rail projects, outlining the $20-$30 billion shortfall the agency is facing through 2046. Ballard Link's 2025 $ estimate is now $22.6 billion, a full 90% increase. The Boeing Access Road infill station is now at $475 million.

Two amazing sights, all at one moment: “At nearly the same moment the railcar first entered the I-90 bridge from the Mercer Island side, 11:49 p.m., a thick shower of sparks streaked high above the park, from an apparent meteor.”

I’ve spent the better part of two decades dealing with people trying to dox and harass the volunteers who make Wikipedia the incredible resource it is today. I liked it better when they weren’t in Congress.

A tip: just because a transit agency called "Metro" provides an image of "Madison BRT" does not mean it's Madison, Wisconsin. (I've ridden both Madison BRTs, in Madison and Seattle!)

With all Liga MX teams eliminated from Leagues Cup, figured I’d do one more update of MLS teams’ all-time record against Liga MX opponents. (Converted shootout wins to ties)

This is an auto-alignment point used by trolleybuses to switch from ESS (battery) to on-wire (OCS) operations. The operator drives up to a predetermined alignment marking, hits a button, and both poles automatically extend to contact the wires.

I would love to see someone create a replica of the 2008 kit with the Sound Transit sponsorship. Still wonder how that deal was made, but that jersey is my ultimate white whale.

The Times has a great guide for getting to the Seattle waterfront, but the complications only make me wish we had restored the George Benson Waterfront Streetcar or provided an adequate replacement on 1st Ave.
