Boo was the last adoptable cat at the shelter this weekend and he’s HOME! As a volunteer, I’ve been bonding with him for weeks, & the transition today was seamless. I’m so excited to get to give him all the pets & cuddles a senior cat deserves. The folks @animalhumanenm.bsky.social are incredible!

I’ve lived a lot of places, and only call a couple “home.” This is one. The courage of these folks to come out to protest in a place like this is unmatched. The kindness and support WVians show their neighbors, no matter where they come from, is incredible. These people didn’t vote for this.

If you’re self-employed, a farmer, an early retiree, who isn’t super “online,” and you’ve just learned your premium is going to go up by $30K next year, would you be signing up for ACA in a couple weeks? Even if there is a change now, millions who have counted on Obamacare for decades will be lost.

Ironically, I’m celebrating my 14th cancerversary today - the day my bone tumor was cut out of my knee. And I prob wouldnt be here without leucovorin. Osteosarcoma patients depend on this drug for the best outcomes. The inevitable shortages will terrorize patients and even endanger their lives.

When I was helping people navigate the ACA marketplace, my clients w/ subsidies included retired coal miners, the owner of the local diner, and parents caring for their disabled adult children. Congress has had plenty of time to act. They know what’s at stake. Rs are *choosing* to increase costs.

And there will be 90% fewer Navigators to help enrollees review their options and find other coverage. Navs, under the ACA, provide free, expert, community-based, trusted, unbiased health insurance counseling, education, and outreach. Trump slashed their funding as one of his first acts in office.

People always ask me how to support their friend/family member dealing w cancer. This is it. I don’t know this person, but a glance at their story leads me to believe we may have gotten the same horrific diagnosis. Food is the best medicine & relieves so much hardship for patient AND caregivers 🌻

There are 3 weeks between these 2 pics. In the 1st, I’m about to be uninsured. In the 2nd, I’m about to be diagnosed with bone cancer. Thanks to the ACA, I was able to join my parents’ plan and get the care I needed to survive some really crummy treatment. Happy bday to the law that saved my life.

Obamacare just keeps on giving. 23.6 million people have enrolled in ACA marketplace coverage so far, with a week left before the deadline. That’s MILLIONS more than enrolled in all of last open enrollment period. Spread the word - if you’re not covered, 2025 health plans are available until 1/15.

While advocates have known about this historic IRA provision for some time, many average Americans still haven’t heard about the savings that are about to hit them (yes, SAVINGS). (FWIW, a *single* life-saving Neulasta injection, used by cancer patients across the country, costs about $6,000.)
