Today we remember the 10 people who died in the Selby rail crash at Great Heck, 25 years ago on 28 February 2001. Six passengers and four railwaymen lost their lives in this tragedy and 80 people were seriously injured. Today railway colleagues will be gathering in Newcastle and Selby to remember

What annoys me about the McLaren F1 identity scheme is that their internal designer has not properly matched their CYMK, RAL and Pantone so they all look the same. There's a lot of different papayas. If I can do it with many trains and many uniforms, they can do it in F1... #F1nerd #designnerd

When you gather a team of skilled people, full of creative talent and interiors knowledge, add in a splash of rail expertise and mix with a brand that is proud and passionate about the experience it delivers, you end up with really good railway things. I'm so proud to be able to share the interiors of our Class 897 trains, and the culmination of a two-year project I was privileged to lead on the interior design of - working with LNER colleagues, stakeholders and industry specialists to set a new standard for inter-city train interior design 🙌

I knew the VTEC Mk3 interior I lead the design on was still alive and cruising the rails of Mexico, but I didn't realise they'd created Spanish translations of the signage I designed too - I love it when bits of my design work turn up in unexpected places!

That Midland Mainline one is a stunner, one of Ray Stenning's finest. At the time it was a really fresh and innovative take on a HST livery, and a colourful introduction to the newly privatised railway. Looked properly gorgeous with the matching Mk3s too.

Flying visit to the Cross this morning with @lner.co.uk... I say flying, it was definitely train-ing but... damn, those Azumas are a-zoomy! (Although doesn't that livery just look stunning on that Mk4 DVT... what a beaut!)

2025 was a year to celebrate 200 years of the Britain's railway, and 50 years of the National Railway Museum - and I'm forever grateful I had the opportunity to create iconic designs for both. 2026 will be a year of new beginnings, specifically for yours truly. Stay tuned. Happy new year, all! 🎉🍻👍

This Christmas, I'm mostly learning the intricacies of three aspect railway signalling - ably taught by my three year old nephew and his Duplo train set. I have much to learn, apparently, as there has been several SPADs, coupled with a major signalling failure. New timetable is going well though!

It was fun to officially reveal our latest named @lner.co.uk Class 91 loco this morning: "National Railway Museum 50 Years 1975-2025", featuring a stunning livery design by @samjessupdesign.bsky.social, cleverly weaving the NRM and LNER brands whist celebrating the museum's history and its future 🙌

Today is the first ever #225Day celebrating our InterCity 225 fleet. These East Coast stalwarts have carried generations over millions of miles since 1989. To mark the occasion, we're proud to unveil that 91106 has been named 'Swallow' after the iconic InterCity emblem of grace and speed.

What a stunning day for it too! Nameplate (and 225 day logo) designed by me, on behalf of LNER, with a little quirk... Different nameplates on each side, so the swallow icon sits on the 'leading edge' of the plate, pointed forwards, as it used to be on the original Inter-City 225 livery 😉👍

I'm a big fan of brave and different transport design, and this is different. And brave. And frankly, more than a little bit stunning. There's something about that Condor livery, when their aircraft are all lined up like this, it just looks... where'd I put my "chef's kiss" emoji?

Loved this vid, but it was weird to see the Virgin/LNER Mk3 interiors I led through design of, being used across the atlantic! Nice that HSTs are getting a spot of retirement/reuse in the Mexican sunshine 🇲🇽☀️👍

Been desperate to get my hands on one of these so finally!... an OO gauge Hornby version of my Virgin NRM40 livery, from 10 years ago. Loved designing this loco, the reaction it got from the press and public, and paying tribute to 40 years of the fantastic National Railway Museum!

Flashback to when red, radical 225s ruled the roost at KGX. As much as I miss my design days at Virgin Trains, it's heartening to know there's new brands and new faces (plus new trains) taking the industry to new creative places. Digging through files for a design project today, I happened across this little gem - back from when East Midlands Trains was becoming East Midlands Railway, I had a personal attempt at a logo/icon which could work for the new brand, while bringing back the 'stag' iconography of Midland Mainline 👍

Yep, looks pretty darn smart to me. Subtle changes to allow for modern visibility compliance, but still a absolutely cracking effort. Well done Southeastern, a nice way to celebrate an iconic rolling stock, colour scheme and Rail 200 too! 🔴🔵⚪️👍 (Photos nabbed, with thanks, from Rail Advent)

Today's FB memory from 2016... the Virgin launch of a new "Flying Scotsman" alongside the original steamy version, in the big glass shed at King's Cross. Was proud to be a key part of the team that delivered VTEC's Scotsman, and nice to know 91101 still carries the rather fetching nameplate too!

A thing of beauty... lovely work (launched yesterday) from New York's Metro-North Railroad, bringing the original New Haven scheme to a modern loco - the fifth in the company's heritage fleet - they've also got one in the iconic 1954 "NH" New Haven livery too 🇺🇲 😎 👍
