I recently built a business forecasting course from scratch for undergraduates. Students can start with almost no statistical background. They learn through real stock market data and hands-on coding examples, so the concepts actually stick.

Identifying a macroeconomic shock on households is hard when there is no explicit treated group, discontinuity of the shock on any dimension, and if the shock is time-varying along with too many confounding variables. I cope with these issues in my JMP, showing:

I will present G-estimation and introduce GQ-learning tomorrow at #SEA2024. G-estimation with IVs shows time-varying treatment effects on households.
