The identity of a devil isn’t immediately erased after being eaten, but the concept they represent is. That raises a question: why did Pochita’s identity and existence disappear, and not a specific concept that he represented? It wouldn’t make sense unless Pochita is the devil of his own identity.

Asa and Denji are two teenagers who are attracted to each other and care for each other somewhat but I don’t think Fujimoto ever intended them to be read as endgame true love.

I’m pretty sure Pochita is the Chainsaw Man Devil because of the scope of what got erased. When Lil’ D was eaten, Yoru was still able to remember her somewhat: it was the concept of death that got erased from reality.

i need to reread part two for the details, but it took quite some time before denji actually realized asa and yoru were two separate entities. even after he does, he still has trouble with the concept. partially because he liked both, but also because he also identifies with his alter ego.

i keep seeing people misunderstanding chapter 1 denji as either already being sex-obsessed or not wanting sex at all. originally he mainly wanted intimacy and connection, but he did have a sex drive. it just was at normal levels and wasn’t really a driving factor behind his actions.

important to remember that Denji defeated Makima as himself and not as chainsaw man. as chainsaw man he probably wouldn’t have been able to defeat her. chainsaw man was not the solution during the most important parts of the story.

read a long post where someone was talking about chainsaw man (which I have not read) in fairly abstract terms but abbreviated the title "csm" throughout without noting that so I was just kind of like "the Christian Science Monitor did this?"

I’ve seen interpretations that this is leaving a door open for a continuation of CSM (The Story) or for Pochita’s rebirth. I had the opposite takeaway! That Denji /doesn’t/ pursue the feeling in his heart that comes with this recognition is the sign that he never will be Chainsaw Man again.
